Bought a new Domain... Probably not worth it but AI figured what the heck.

Gonna try and build a general news site. Never tried and I don't know what I will do there yet.

But I can at least give it a year and see.

Threads has successfully federated with atomicpoet.org.

So all questions about whether or not they will federate have been answered. More to the point, Threads is federating with my personal server.

There were doubts about whether Threads would allow federation with single-user and small user servers. There were also questions about whether they’d allow federation with non-Mastodon servers.

Well, I’m running an Akkoma+Mangane server that has two active users on it. And federation with Threads is indeed working.

Enabled it on my Threads account I use to just test. After enabling the beta I am about to search for my Threads profile from my local instance.

Will do. So far I am having a one way experience. I can find my Threads account from here but I can't find here from there if I search. I haven't tried following yet though to see.

Frankly, the only thing that worries me about Threads is the chance of Meta's Community Guidelines breaking containment.

Otherwise, later tonight I will be sharing my federated accounts with FB friends.

You know how Facebook Community Guidelines violations seem to pop up for any damn thing on there?

My rules on my instances aren't necessarily Meta's, so my are my Threads followers at risk of seeing something like "This post was blocked because it goes against our community standards?"

That sort of thing.

I wonder how far this will extend into Meta if this is successful. We are restricting ourselves to talking about Threads because that's what is being used, but what would we see if this was implemented across their entire ecosystem.

Federated Facebook and Instagram...

Could be interesting.

I installed and set it up just for Testing, haven't found reason to post to it really.

But having that option will make it interesting if more sites implement ActivityPub as well.

So....I feel like I'm pretty weird when it comes to certain things I really enjoy.

Music for example. I LOVE music. All kinds. Rock, Pop, HipHop, Classic and all of the subgenres that those genres created....with the exception of Country.

I just CANNOT Country. There's just something about the "twang" sound of it that just makes me cringe, if that makes any sense.

Does anyone else have something like this where they LOVE almost everything about a particular topic or hobby, except ONE particular subset of it?

Or is it just me?

When it comes to music I am the same, but replace Country with Rap. Except for 3 Eminem albums and some soundtracks I just can't get into it.

It's not even the relatability honestly.

In most rap I just hear the voices moving and it just makes me freak a bit. Like the twang in Country for you, most rap voices just hit some trigger in my head and ears and I can't take it.

Working on that, created an Adult only server for written and drawn content. Unfortunately payment hasn't really entered my thought process on that one.

The best solution is gonna be those of us who can help Adult content creators, help them build sites for their content and try and establish an independent system.

Got linked to this today about Roblox not working on Linux / Steam Deck. Wine was intentionally blocked, their own developers even clearly said so and it's not the first time.

Daylight savings time is playing major havoc on me. I hate it. They say we need it because of farmers. But few people farm nowadays. Why should all of us upend our lives for farmers? Can’t they adjust their own alarm clocks themselves?

My Dad keeps insisting I should just get a plain white Ford. I keep eyeing short buses that allow me to stand up straight.

Always make sure what you buy you can repair yourself. The dump it when it doesn't work mentality builders have taken up in recent years is wasteful.
