The humans like to hide snacks around the living room for Pippin (BC, Canada) to hunt and find. Normally he rushes to find them all as fast as possible. The other day however he decided he didn’t like the snacks on offer and just left all them all. Now there are a lot of abandoned snacks hidden in the room, but that’s the humans’ problem.

@Gigi she was killed by someone acting as the bodyguard for the legislature. So, not exactly?
She was attacking Congress rather than the president.
The video of her going through the door into firing range of someone who clearly stated he would shoot anyone who did so doesn't leave much room to credibly argue that she was not doing the attacking but i doubt that fact is particularly relevant to trumpers.

My tortie is insisting i didn't feed her.
Shes given up asking for the window to be opened.
The last time she got out on my watch she brought back a live starling that flew around the house for a while
That was several thousand times more starling than belongs in a house.

Whenever I'm stressed out I just think about geology. I think about the glaciers of North America of the last ice age, two miles thick, the deep subsonic sounds they made as they moved over the rocks, carving striations in the landscape. I think about the erratics suspended in ice coming silently to rest at odd angles in an endless spring.

The way that you can see, and smell and feel the cold of that much ice, before you see it. The way you can hear it singing darkly in your soul...

Pine tree bark is edible. So is a significant fraction of the flora on the ground and most of the fauna.
Early spring and winter theres not much but mid-spring on theres definitely a lot of edible stuff if you aren't picky.

They CAN be eaten and are significantly more high calorie than pine bark. Humans have the advantage of being omnivorous. We're kind of like rats. A weed species. If the trees are green, they would have needles which means the tree isn't dead.
Starvation isn't hard but its far more likely to happen in a situation without green pines.

I have an Israeli friend who left Israel ages ago. Like most Israeli men my age, he was in the military while he lived there. He refuses to ever go back, especially right now, because Israel will force him back into the military and also he fucking hates Israel.

He told me a story over Thanksgiving about the Israeli family who lived next door to him while he was there, and how they literally uprooted and stole a 250 year-old olive tree from a Palestinian home that they had also stole from the family that lived there.

They STOLE the TREE and had it shipped to their own home.
