    I have a question for my @actuallyautistic friends...

    is the constant internal dialogue a function of Autism's "bottom-up" processing, or a function of shame-based masking?

    I'm wondering if I'll ever be able to just act or speak without that layer. should I be trying to act/speak thru the layer of dialogue or should I just let it happen & be less anxious about it?

    I guess I'm wondering if it comes from my masking coping strategies or if it's more ingrained and unavoidable

    I've often read that in Europe in the 1500s people "didn't drink water everyone drank beer and wine"

    ... How did that work? I assume that there were beers without too much alcohol available? What about kids? pregnant women?

    Was everyone just lightly drunk all the time? If I have a light beer I feel bad for two days. I understand the whole issue of all the rivers being fowled and cholera... but... how on earth did this work?

    No juice or boiled water for pregnant women?

    "Anti-imperialism" is not choosing the imperlaist power one decides is "the least bad" and supporting its imperialism. That is imperialism. There is no "counter-imperialist imperialism". Imperialism is not a country, group of such nor any bloc(s) of countries.

    Anti-imperialism is opposing the concept itself ("the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas", Merriam-Webster), regardless whom by, where, when, claimed pretexts, anything.

    I'm hardly Christian these days, but I consider myself "Culturally Southern Black Baptist" through and through. Gotta love the churches that organized people to fight for their civil rights.

    And so maybe that's why when these evangelicals compare Trump to Christ (or really any mortal man, but him more-so) it makes my gut turn.

    It's not just silly, it's ... sacrilegious. I'm not the first to point this out, but somehow... it doesn't register.

    Police nabbed a graffiti artist attempting to flee the scene of committing this (picture) adorable art in the harbor of Visby, Gotland, the large island just outside southeastern mainland Sweden.
    The 27-year-old was prosecuted for vandalism, with the prosecutor demanding a fine.

    Police's interrogation records said e.g. that "His intention is to offer free art to passersby." and... the District Court of Gotland... agreed.

    The court's ruling states that no harm has been proven and that the artist "on a gray and cracked concrete façade which is the short end of a loading dock, has depicted a lamb.", that "The way in which X has illustrated the lamb testifies to an artistic work carried out with a certain amount of artistic and technical skill." then finally "According to the District Court's opinion, the beauty value of the cracked concrete façade - in purely objective terms - has increased through X's painting." so the 27-year old artist was acquitted by the court, which also ruled that the police had must return the spray cans they had confiscated.

    Damn hippies. ;-D

    The only place I have found Palestinian voices is on Twitter, even as a broken site, and even with all the censorship of Palestinian voices. And the most heartbreaking thing is when journalists who were updating us with the most horrific updates, photos and videos tweet "this might be my last tweet," and their friends say "X's home was bombed and we haven't heard from them in 3 hours" "a new day and there is no news about X."

    I have learned this word within the last week. This word, with my understanding of it's multiple definitions I read over Googling, has given me a simpler way to bundle up every single problem I have had throughout my life.

    My parents, teachers, bullies, rejections, paperwork, phone calls and every other piece of my life that didnt go as I expected, can be bunched into a package with this one word.

    OK, in the vein of "weird things I wouldn't normally ask"...

    There's been discussion about those of us who don't get accurate signals from our bodies. Does anyone else suppress the need to urinate? If I get the urge to go, but I'm in the middle of something, I just turn it off. Later it'll come back, sometimes critically, but for that time I just no longer feel it. Is this a weird thing that only I do?
