When touches septic tanks, communities are in deep doo-doo.

"In 1999, with evidence that water quality was deteriorating along parts of the Keys, the state mandated that the island chain eliminate the use of tens of thousands of and other outdated waste systems. The cost reached roughly $1 billion as Monroe County built centralized sewage and hooked up thousands of homes and businesses.

There was a huge change in water quality.”

"The currently implemented and planned policies under the lead to a path roughly aligned with global pathways that result in a little above a 2°C global temperature increase by the end of the century if other countries follow a similar level of ambition. This trajectory is more than a degree better than before the Green Deal, the level of action is now much higher than five years ago."

Europeans: Please VOTE on June 6, that's your chance to influence the make-up of the .

Vote green, vote progressive.
You KNOW the right wingers are raring to push the gas pedal on oil and gas production, turn back the clock on civil rights, etc.

We can do much better than that.
We need an even more ambitious Green Deal. Getting that needs your vote.

Some news articles just report the facts. Some try - very hard - to convince the reader to put down their heightened anxiety over flying.

I see what you did here, @NBC
I wonder how many aviation ad dollars you get.

"Eight young #Alaska residents sued the state on Wednesday seeking to block a major gas project, the latest in a string of #climate-crisis-related #lawsuits by youths arguing that government policies promoting fossil fuels violate their rights.

The lawsuit asks the court to block the Alaska #LNG project from proceeding, and to declare that a law mandating its development is unconstitutional. "

Alaska Attorney General Treg Taylor called the lawsuit “misguided” in an email, and said liquefied gas development in the state “is subject to the most stringent environmental standards in the world.”

Though most people are eventually able to return to their homes, even temporary shocks like these pose particular challenges for older people, many of whom live on fixed incomes and have health and mobility needs that make managing home repairs or finding new places to live difficult."

"The World Bank has approved a loan of US$750 million (RM3.54 billion) to Colombia, to help the country become more resilient in the face of climate change by buoying up renewable energy efforts and reducing carbon emissions, the bank said yesterday."

That follows a December 2022 loan of US$1 billion.

Articles like this make the lender look good but almost never disclose the terms. Is it aid, or is it rent seeking?

"Wealthy nations have loaned at least $18 billion at market-rate interest. That is not the norm for for climate-related and other aid projects, which usually carry low or no .

At least another $11 billion in loans – nearly all from Japan – required recipient nations to hire or purchase materials from companies in the lending countries. Conditional aid can carry additional costs because recipients can’t consider cheaper contractors."
