I took great care of iPad support. @IceCubesApp uses the iOS (TabBar) layout when the size class changes to a compact width. On regular width size classes, the app uses a custom sidebar layout. All that with SwiftUI, without reloading any root view so state is kept.

@ivory I’d like to request an enchantment for Ivory. When I reply to a post that’s deleted (I don’t know it’s deleted), Ivory will give me an error and when I retry it then fails and deletes my message. It would be great in that situation if it saved my message as a draft if it fails to send it, so I can recover it.

A THREAD ON THREADS!

I’m receiving lots of questions about our position on federation with Threads and realised I haven’t posted on this subject for a while.

We have lots of users who do want to federate with Threads, and lots of users who don’t. It’s my job to find a good solution that works for everyone.

Our position has always been to start from a defensive stance due to our technical and moderation concerns.

So what sort of solution do we think might keep (almost) everyone happy?

This is one of those things that, when you find it, is such a little delight. My wife is obsessed with Formula 1 and I learned recently that they offer an official ICS feed for the entire 2024 season, so we have it in our calendars now and can plan for race day meals, etc.

Yesterday while at the grocery store, I somehow managed to put my phone down and not pick it back up. I managed to get it back this morning, but that was stressful. I don't recall ever having done that before. Maybe we've just been super lucky, but every time anybody in my family has done this, we've always gotten it back. I think the MOST surprising thing about this whole situation isn't that I put my phone down and forgot it, it was I didn't notice it was missing for almost 8 hours.

We are living through fraught times. We are in a long campaign to save democracy for future generations. Powerful forces are against us. They will win some battles. If our response is to freak out every time they do, it will distract critical thinking and drain energy. That's playing into their strategy. Stay cool, we are stronger, and we are winning. Unpopular opinion: it's the EU's fault that Progressive Web Apps are disabled on iOS. People expect Apple to jump through hoops to preserve something they don't prioritize. Why? If PWAs are important to the EU they should grant Apple an unambiguous permission to continue hosting them in WebKit-only if they choose to.

@ivory I can’t access the @wongmjane account in the link below. It does work in Mona. Does this mean that Ivory doesn’t support Thread users yet? It does pop up a message to “open in browser” but that doesn’t do anything when I tap it.
