I am tired of political commentary talking about democrat disapproval rates of Biden. Yeah, sure, there are a lot of Democrat voters who disapprove of Biden because his administration is too far right. I don't think those people are going to vote for the fascist candidate.

And I think President Carter has been in hospice care for quite some time, certainly longer than I've really ever heard people typically lasting in hospice care. I'm sure he's heartbroken, and this doesn't bode well for his health either.

@GottaLaff my mom's mom survived my grandpa by about 20 years, but she was still living surrounded by about half her children and a ton of grandchildren as well, this is over in Ireland. She had no shortage of company and all the life she helped bring into the world.

My dad's mom on the other hand alienated her children, save my father (I never met my uncles). All she had was grandpa, and after he passed, my dad would take the family up to visit her, but she only lasted 6 months.

It's a death spiral (I hope, anyway). He says atrocious shit; good people balk and either pull away or push back, he sticks to his guns and doubles down on the atrocious shit. "I can't possibly be wrong so I'm just going to behave even worse to prove I'm right".

But really, we all know that he was thinking "Hitler was right" from the very beginning, don't we? It only took this long and this much strife to get him to say it out loud.

Nothing's perfect, including union rules; but refusing to stand up for yourself is just playing right into the robber barons' hands. They love it when you bitch about Union dues, 'cause they know that there's a sucker they can take advantage of. Demoralization is part of their strategy.

Okay then, let me answer your question directly. Why would you pay a fee for equality and fair treatment? Because the guys with a million times more cash than you are paying to make sure you don't get that. And part of unions is making sure that you get paid enough to where those dues don't even matter. The robber barons don't care what one guy does. Alone, you're insignificant to them. But they sure get their knickers in a knot when everybody stands together.

And I cannot tell you how much I disagree with "Unions are not the place for workers who excel". That sounds like you're simultaneously holding some beef and an overinflated opinion of yourself. 'Cause I'll tell you what, the Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA and Equity are full of "workers who excel" or they wouldn't be so desperate to get us back on TV.

Sorry man, I take this very personally, because what they want most of all is to divide and conquer. We stand stronger when we stand together, and anybody who doesn't want to stand together, I don't have any use for. That's pretty much it. You're talking about a couple of petty annoyances; I'm talking about outright villains who would put 11-year-olds to work 16-hour days if they could get away with it. The only reason we have child labor laws is because of unions.

We have weekends because of unions. We have holidays because of unions. We have the 40-hour work week with overtime because of unions. We have medical benefits because of unions. We have disability pay because of unions. You have all these benefits because of unions. You think any corporation willingly gave all that up? That was fought for with sweat and blood so average folks could live a comfortable life. They wouldn't care one whit about you otherwise.

@Teop_Versant @iju @flexghost that's just a fantasy for most people. You have obviously never worked for a boss who pinned all his failures on you and all your successes on him. If that's actually the case in your life, that's by pure luck, not by "working harder". I've seen people who worked themselves to death trying to solve their problems at work and all they got for it it was a hole in the ground. That's a suckers bet.
