    Only a guesstimate, but based on how Apple charges for storage on the Mac & iPad, we could see Apple Vision Pro prices for higher storage tiers look like this:

    My 11yo was disappointed when he inherited the family "Intel" laptop, since it was so old-and-busted. But when I told him today he could run Windows in Boot Camp, his eyes lit up. I think he has a whole new perspective on the benefits of "old-and-busted."

    Here is my continued discomfort with the Apple Vision Pro and how its announcement/roll-out has gone: In every single way, this is a dev kit, which I think is completely valid and is the proper positioning for a device like this at this stage. But Apple, while somewhat positioning it like a dev kit in terms of price/release/how it can be tried out, continues to market this as a direct to consumer device. You cannot be both, and I cannot stress this enough. You cannot be both.

    @film_girl a launch event is additional marketing, and I am not convinced an additional marketing is warranted given the limited quantities of Vision Pros ready to be sold.

    The first batch will sell itself to early adopters and developers while the rest of us wait for ARs killer app.

    The iPod was sold as a finished product.
    The iPhone was sold as a finished product.
    The iPad was sold as a finished product.

    The Apple Watch was sold as an App Store on your wrist and appears to turned out different than what Apple originally intended; doubling down on fitness.

    I believe the Vision Pro is following the playbook learned from the watch. We need to see how Vision Pro is used and what the killer app will be before we heavily market it to consumers.

    With Android you are the product. If you don't believe me just look at the number of requests my mostly idle Pixel 4 makes to Google Ad Services and DoubleClick while sitting unused on its charger.

    What is the first software you install on a new computer?

    Mine is typically Vim or Bash, followed by Rsync/Rclone, and Mosh

    As far as GUI apps go it is Firefox, Thunderbird, XFreeRDP, and Acorn if I am on a Mac.

    I taught my kids that, when I'm at at public computer store, I always go into a browser and punch in my own company's URL (https://redsweater.com/). Today at MicroCenter my 11yo did it before I even noticed. Proud papa.
