Thanks everyone! We closed the loop!

Most websites are now publishing algorithmic generated content in order to please ranking algorithms from search engines in order to display generated ads that will be clicked by crawling bots and automatically generated social profiles.

No humans needed any more!

Which means that you can now close your laptop, watch a sunset and talk to real humans near you. Enjoy your life far from your screen.

@ploum This is snarky and funny but it ignores the fact that for thirty years an awful lot of us enjoyed a huge amount of internet-mediated sociality that was superior or usefully supplementary (for whatever reasons) to the social opportunities available to us in meatspace. It's funny to say "go outside and talk to people again" but a lot of us had reasons that wasn't working so well and now we are decades older so it's even harder. The loss is real and not genuinely a cause for celebration.

Hey, look at that. A few days after finally getting secure browsing (https instead of http) set up for ErosBlog so that the scary red browser warnings and cockblocks would go away, we're back at the top of Google for "sex blog" searches. It's been a LONG time since I've seen that!

@girlonthenet You’re welcome! And I equally swear I didn’t put that link in so you would boost me. 😃 There aren’t so very many of us actual working sex bloggers left! I, too, am delighted just to knock the content-farmer pablum down a notch.

Not gonna name any names but...

Have any of the rest of you noticed people here on Mastodon who are visibly DAMAGED by their years of posting on abusive platforms? As in, they have flinches and tells from years of dodging capricious moderation?

I just saw someone who posts found BDSM pics without provenance or alt-text. They don't know anything about the img context. But they still put "Consensual bondage. Not an actual depiction of any violent or illegal behavior" on each toot!

ErosBlog,
@ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

I wanna tell 'em "This is the Fediverse! Nobody is going to boot you for posting a bondage picture as long as it's behind an appropriate content warning. If that's not true on your instance, find a better instance!"

JUST under the wire, April's update for Patreons! So sorry it's late, all is explained in the audio but basically I had to go to hospital. Like a complete badass who lives life on the edge, I did myself an injury... while cutting a bread roll 🤘

ALSO included: preview of a super hot draft post about suck jobs, sexual feedback, and a powerful cunt gush. .

Proposal: we stop using NSFW (Not Safe For Work) and start using NSFCA or Not Safe For Corporate America

@mindpersephone I have been trying for decades to die on the hill of "this material is perfectly safe for work, it's your work that's not safe for this material!"

I’m very fond of stories in a universe where some advanced, but long vanished, race of enigmatic aliens has left behind strange artifacts: like puzzle boxes or dungeons for our heroes to explore and nearly get killed in. If not aliens let it be a lost human civilization.

I also like to think about those ancient people who built the ‘Temple of Doom’— for all of those traps to work so well after thousands of years they must have been very clever. What was it like to set them up?

@futurebird If TrapTempleBuilder2000 was a game, I would play it.

Tell me you live in Red America without telling me you live in Red America, riding around in your neighbor’s dualie diesel truck edition:

ErosBlog,
@ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

By the way this was 100% not posed or staged in any way. My neighbor was showing off the features on the touchscreen of his fancy truck and I said "Hey, you mind if I snap a picture of that?" He had no idea I was composing a shot of the Red America trifecta: luxury Trump hat, crucifix, and country music.

I assume that people who need to know this would already know it, but I am not such a person and did not know it, so I will pass this on from a correspondent who wishes to remain nameless: There's a FOSS menstrual cycle and fertility tracking app named "drip." created by feminist female developers with privacy at its foundation. I'm not qualified to opine about its safety or security but developers say everything stays on your device: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.drip/

In my ErosBlog post about this revolting development, I referenced the famous meme about the programmer/engineer who not only refuses to have smart devices in his house, but he also keeps a gun handy by his printer so he can kill it quick in case it makes an unexpected noise right before it starts spitting out SkyNet-powered killdroids:

Can I get a sense-check on something pls? It annoys me when people leave silly jokey comments underneath guest work. I find it belittling and dismissive, and it's rarely (never?) funny enough to justify undermining someone's deeply personal, often vulnerable sexual fantasies.

If it's my work I don't care. If it's a guest, it really fucks me off.

Is it legit that this annoys me, or am I being a humourless cunt?

[poll in next post]

18+ ErosBlog,
@ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@girlonthenet I vote "legit annoying" but then I'm the guy who spent the last 22 years moderating away the emotional nine-year-olds who think it's funny to post "Grandma!" in the comments to any porn photo from 1980 or previous. Which is to say I long ago gave myself permission to be as annoyed as I wanna be at any kind of comment humor attempt that's tone deaf or creepy-feeling. Comment jokesters have an absolute duty to not be weird about it!

18+ ErosBlog,
@ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

@girlonthenet Over the years I have gradually used up all of my enthusiasm for interacting with commenters who aren't bringing joy, leaving me very twitchy on the arbitrary-nuke button. I do get funny comments but they are always from long-time readers/commenters who actually did read the room. I myself don't have enough social acuity to safely make jokes online, but my wisdom score is low and I have earned plenty of lumps proving it.

@geraineon I have been a MilSF fan since the spectrum went from Heinlein's Starship Trooper through Barry Longyear's Enemy Mine all the way to Joe Haldeman's Forever War. And you are not wrong, in the later Baen Books era it has become too much of a haven for foaming xenophobia and racism.

Pornocalypse comes for Google Drive. This appears like it might be the "we classify everything erotic as spam" subvariant that's been growing in popularity lately.

@spielkind I have been carefully documenting the answers to the questions you ask here -- and specifically with regard to Google's behavior -- for well over a decade, in dozens or hundreds of posts. http://www.erosblog.com/?s=pornocalypse

@AimeeMaroux @spielkind I wanted to go there a couple toots ago but resisted the urge until you tempted me further. 😀
