I distinctly remember the day when I was 20 that I decided my goal in life was to be happy, and started to study how to do that.

I've now spent 50 years studying that, and don't have any quick answers. One tip, though, is that happiness is not the same thing as enjoying things. It's becoming comfortable in your own skin as you navigate the world around you.

  1. Do whatever you need to do to stay well-fed, healthy, and housed;
  2. Do everything in a spirit of no attachment. Doesn't matter how good you're doing according to OTHERS. Are you doing the BEST you can do?
  3. Love yourself first, then love those who will feed and strengthen you.
  4. Avoid obviously troubled people. You REALLY want to help others when you're young, but if you're drowning, you can't help anyone.

@gdinwiddie @Jaden3 same. After 24 of my own, I don't have an entirely sure way to be happy other what you've mentioned already. As soon as you see who you are and appreciate it, you'll start the path to happiness

@Jaden3 It's often kind of the same thing, though people can certainly work on their bodies but not their thinking or their emotional intelligence! The brain is part of the body and exercise helps keep it healthy too, we just need to also exercise our brain/mind (via thought, learning new things that are hard and using our minds in focused ways). Learning how to more fully focus on the "now" is important but so is developing skills like our ability to think into the future (chess and strategy games are fantastic for this). Stay healthy and happy!

I was just sharing that recently with someone who was nervous: if you worry and it doesn’t happen, you worried for nothing. So don’t worry. You can deal with shit when it happens.

I only wear skinny jeans and I know they're dead af bc I'm a millenial and we're not cool. (not even "not cool anymore", the hipster skinny jeans were laughable when they were popular and everyone was wearing them)

I see high schoolers walking by with their baggy pants and I think they're adorable. in the 90s we did not look nearly as cool as they do.
