I guess the “Do you agree with the PSF’s universal masking policy for ?” poll has been deleted. When I saw it yesterday the vote was 80% “Yes”, and I was so proud. 🩷

What I wanted: a fully-functioning for iOS and iPadOS

What I had: a nearly-there Arc app for iOS that just needed to let me integrate 1Password and such

What I have now: a second Arc app for iOS that wants to use AI to browse for me and… nothing else

Watching reviews it occurred to me that if interacting with 3D models is really, really good it’ll be a complete game-changer for and creating custom garments. You could make models match real bodies curve for curve, even as the same bodies change over time. Physical custom dress forms run $2000+ and match one body at one moment in time.

No clue whether the Vision Pro is that good, but something will be and I’m so excited!

I’m listening to the latest episode of @sadpythongirlsclub and I love that the Python chat is punctuated by all the

Luciana: “You’re the best!”
@BajoranEngineer “No you’re the best!”
Both: “Also @pamelafox is the best!”

I’ll take “Hyping you up like it’s 2am in the ladies’ room at the bar” over “Lean In” and it’s “Stop acting like a girl! Act like a man so you might get treated half as well as one!” every day of the week. 🩷

I seriously love how is set up, with language inclusivity clearly a top priority. And as a documentarian, getting the translation extension docs (in many languages! 😍) in the event onboarding email was 🤌. https://fosstodon.org/@mariatta/111502465424861441

I’m all for making it difficult to keep empty housing units in places like SF, but the 2024 plan to levy a $5000/year tax penalty on vacant units can’t mean anything at all to people who can afford to sit on empty houses. 🤨 Nor will it do much to offset affordable housing programs.

Just a “Jesus is coming—look busy!” move, I guess?

Fellow folks! If you, like me, have been patiently waiting to opt-in to full-text search and thought you couldn't yet because there didn't seem to be an announcement that it was ready after the announcement that it was not ready, rejoice! Turns out it was enabled a couple of weeks ago. 🎉

And if you're even more like me: don't expect to find the opt-in under Settings -> Preferences! It's Settings -> Public Profile, and it's up at the top, cleverly disguised as “Totally not a button”.

Hi @MonaApp! Is there a way in Mona to use these new features from 4.2.0? 🙏

  • Show conditional search options; e.g. “has”, “from”
  • Exclusive lists: stops posts in lists also appearing in the Home feed?
  • See results button on polls

I wish let people set up subchannels instead of having different channels for each of a creator’s distinct interests. Like if I made videos about tech, makeup/hair, and The Neuroverse, a person who hit “Subscribe” would be presented with those categories to choose from.

This appeals to me in “Let’s be whole humans” sort of way, and also because dudes will lose their entire minds if they subscribe to a femme’s content and they don’t feel like every bit of it is applicable to them.

“New app” workflow:

  1. Set up a “Hide my email” address in iCloud
  2. Copy that into 1Password and create a password
  3. Download app
  4. Go through security settings to make sure it’s not getting access to anything

I’m tired and all I did was install an app. 😭

I just discovered that @MonaApp will now automatically attach a description to a photo if that description is stored in the photo’s info! I started saving descriptions to photos of mine when I was posting them and needed , in case I might post them again. I used to open the photo and copy the description manually, but now it comes along automatically! 😍

Is there a free #IDE that’s intuitive for first-time programmers to use? Even VS Code has a pretty high cognitive load out of the box, what with having to install an extension for whatever language you want to use and all the tabs for version control, terminal, debugging, testing, etc. The “Run” button is tiny and has a drop-down with potentially confusing questions. For brand-new users I’d love to have a cleaner interface by default, with the option to toggle on additional complexity.
