The hedgehog method of getting rid of your competition. In other videos (not attached), the winning male stopped to eat, both when dispatching his rival & when courting the female. He lost interest in her after only a few minutes -the defeated male had spent over an hour wooing her.
@khalidabuhakmeh Exactly, an enrichment game to burn up cognitive energy. We crumple up paper, toss in plastic balls, use wool packing sheets, anything to fill the space, then toss kibble & treats among that, the amt subtracted from their dinner so the older dog doesn't gain weight. Then use treat toys we found on sale like kongs or snuffle mats that are also stuffed with kibble & put those inside as the main puzzle. If you don't have a treat toy, you can use a smaller box, as they can open it.
O yes, way easier than picking up stitches for the arch. Larch Peds by Laura Nelkin.
(Actually, I think the 3rd needle positioning works quite well.) #knitting@knitting
In case anyone wondered, the above post was sarcasm. You'll be glad to know I lived through the heel turn & gusset - the designer calls it Lola's Pickup Line. It gives a smooth gusset, very nice to look at, although it's not really visible here. More photos tomorrow.
Buds on the crooked cherry. Few years ago, it self seeded up the middle of choisa. The current main trunk grew parallel to the ground, then sent up a vertical branch for sun. When rescued, it grew in a Z shape until last year, when it self pruned the once vertical sun seeking branch. It lost more than half its height for this less crooked structure, but seems to be very healthy. Lovely, lovely little tree. @gardening#gardening
@levampyre The only thing I did was, when I lifted it from under the choisa, I planted it so the trunk growing along the ground was now vertical. It did the rest on its own. Once the Z section died completely, I lopped that off.
@levampyre Interesting. Certainly applies to gardening, but didn't think paradise was only supposed to be for the tough ones. Guess I better get resigned to spending eternity in Hell.
@levampyre You've sent me down a bilingual rabbit hole, trying to find the origin of a phrase in a language I don't speak. Not a bad way to spend a rainy morning.
This week the Ouray County Plaindealer, a newspaper serving the southern #Colorado mountain community of Ouray, published rape allegations by a 17 year old girl who said the attacks took place at the police chief's house.
On publication day, in all of the newspaper racks around Ouray, the print editions MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED.
