Hi everyone hope all is well. Just wanted to say that for those interested, the Wewalk Smart Cane Version 2 is now available for preorder starting today. Super grateful to have worked with the team on design and features. I can't wait for y'all to use it. Here's a link to a video I did with them. Hope you enjoy! https://youtu.be/InFduStmgxM?si=O06Bj0pIvfFpjbaZ

Matthew2468,

@objectinspace same material as a regular cane... the handle is what's different... rubber surface with a two triangle buttons pointing up and down with a circle button in the middle of the two, two small circle buttons on the side and the cane can be folded just like a regular white cane. There's also the strap too.

I am not recommending Microsoft Forms at this time until they resolve basic accessibility issues in their platform. This saddens me. They often get it right and then someone breaks it. If you consider this a valuable tool, try creating a survey with basic radio buttons and checkboxes and see what you get. If you try it please file feedback with Microsoft. Hoping we get them to solve this issue quickly.

Matthew2468,

@JeffBishop yikes... that's not good. keep us updated on the progress of that. I like using MS forms.

If a piece of software does not store its settings in your %appdata% folder, where is another good place to look for them? I’ve got one particular piece of software that has a lot of settings, but they aren’t stored an app data, and if I can find the place where they’re stored and back them up to prevent having to reconfigure them, that would be amazing.

@evilcookies98 hmmm... wondering the same thing.

Matthew2468, to windows

hey y'all. what apps would you suggest for Windows with NVDA for listening to podcasts?

#blind #nvda #windows #accessibility

Matthew2468,

@ppatel ahh, that is if the podcast is on youtube in the first place, correct?

Matthew2468,

@ppatel gotcha. :-) any more ideas?

Matthew2468, to accessibility

Hello. hope this is working correctly. First time posting with Tweezecake on my new Windows desktop. Super excited. Using NVDA here.

I deleted around 15% of my contact list (60 people). And that was only the people I haven't spoken to for five years or more, whose numbers I'm not confident are current.

Matthew2468,

@simon @serrebi And this is why I don’t like iMessage for group chats. Its a complete mess.

I must confess that I cannot see a use for Apple Vision Pro for any sane human, unless they want to try to convince people of their total insanity by waving their hands around at objects no one else can see. It just seems like an overpriced paperweight to me.

Matthew2468,

@evilcookies98 @Kaliah totally agree.

OK guys, question. I’ve been external drive shopping today. I found a one terabyte spinning drive for around 70 bucks. The same capacity of SSD is over 120. However, I found a flash drive with the exact same capacity for 40 bucks. I need to know which of these is going to run faster, because I will be storing most of my stuff on it from now on

🌟 Thrilled to share my involvement in the Emmy-awarded "@Apple - The Greatest - Accessibility" commercial! As a blind musician, it was an honor not only to demo the innovative Door Detection feature but also to play piano and keyboards in the video. I even had a hand in the pre-production of the song. A big shoutout to @Somesuchandco and @Apple for embracing accessibility and inclusivity. This recognition at the celebrates the power of accessible technology and the arts combined! 🏆🎹👏

@radio so what did everyone do to celebrate the new year? I took a test.

Matthew2468,

@evilcookies98 @radio I relaxed today. Helped a friend out with his computer and played piano for a little bit.

Matthew2468, to keyboards

Hi everyone. Hope all is well. Question for those who use Windows. Any good suggestions for a computer keyboard thats full size and has an applications key? Also is either bluetooth or wireless and has a battery that can be recharged via USB C?

Matthew2468, to accessibility

Hi everyone. Hope all is well.
I wanted to share some info regarding a video game I’m personally excited for. Feel free to share with others.

This game will be available for Xbox X, Xbox S and Windows computers. The game is called Forza Motorsport. This is the 8th entry in the series, and the first to be fully accessible for blind and low vision users.
I will send a few links in this post.
I’m excited because I will finally be able to play with my family, some of which are gamers. I hope other developers will take the time to make all games accessible for all.

Informal Twitter poll for my disabled Masto friends: Do you, and/or your cohabitating partner or spouse have a desktop or laptop?
If this is you, how would you feel about neither of you having a laptop or desktop device? Would this be okay for you? How quickly would you work to replace a computer if you were without one?
If you're okay with not having a computer for awhile as a viable option, why?

Matthew2468,

@sclower @devinprater @miki @SingingNala Totally agree. You would think they would make it better for us to use.

Matthew2468,

@sclower @devinprater @miki @SingingNala Ahh, yeah you’re right. Google can do all they can, but if the foundation isn’t right, then that’s something that has to be fixed.

Matthew2468,

@sclower @devinprater @TheQuinbox @miki @SingingNala Question, is it a good idea these days to use Parallels on a M1 Mac? Last time I tried using that on my intel Mac a few years ago, both screen readers (JAWS and Voiceover) would speak in the wrong window. For example, JAWS would speak on the Mac side and Voiceover on the Windows side. I also found it confusing to use overall.
Now me having an M1 computer, how has Parallels worked for you? TO answer the other question, I have three Mac computers. ONe is an M1 Mac Studio, another one is the M1 Mac mentioned before and the third is a 2019 intel. That’s not the one I tried Parallels on.
