We're said to be in the era of "peak TV," but last night's Emmy Awards saw just a handful of shows pick up most of the major prizes. The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg dissects why this might have happened, and why fantastic shows like "Better Call Saul," which had 53 nominations over its six-season run, have never won an Emmy.
The Emmy Awards are about to start. The Hollywood Reporter has this breakdown of who should win, and who will — they're saying Bill Hader and Bob Odenkirk will be unfairly snubbed while "Ted Lasso" will take home a trophy for its (in our opinion) underwhelming third season.
🌟 Thrilled to share my involvement in the Emmy-awarded "@Apple - The Greatest - Accessibility" commercial! As a blind musician, it was an honor not only to demo the innovative Door Detection feature but also to play piano and keyboards in the video. I even had a hand in the pre-production of the song. A big shoutout to @Somesuchandco and @Apple for embracing accessibility and inclusivity. This recognition at the #Emmys#75thEmmys celebrates the power of accessible technology and the arts combined! 🏆🎹👏
File another #pinchme moment in my life. Getting to contribute to ILM StageCraft over the last five years, starting with the first season of The Mandalorian continuing through Ahsoka and beyond, will live as one of the greatest successes of my professional career. Getting this from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences via ILM is a dream come true, literally something I have dreamed of in some similar shape since 1993. #stagecraft#vfx#VirtualProduction#emmys#starwars#career
I’m in NYC tonight for the national news #Emmy awards. I brought mom as my date!
I’m honored #ABC10 is nominated in both categories recognizing regional reporting: breaking news (for the #CaldorFire) and investigative (for our #FirePowerMoney series on #PGE and Gov. Newsom’s response to the #CampFire.)
We’re nominated alongside phenomenal local reporting from around the country. Grateful to be here! ❤️
2023 was the year I started watching "television" again, and I liked an AWFUL lot of what I saw. But I want ALL the #Emmys to go to #TheLastOfUs. On the surface it felt like Not My Thing (I dislike both action and horror in my teevee), and I only watched it at all because it was filmed here. But it instead turned out to be the story of a developing non-romantic relationship within the most fully realized post-apocalyptic universe I've seen on screen (and neither that scary nor that action-y). /1
And if I can't get my wish on that (and let's be real, this was also the year of the last season of #Succession, which was also very good, so I suspect the number of #Emmys that are up for grabs are limited), I at LEAST want the third episode of #TheLastOfUs to get every single Emmy that IT is nominated for. Because distilling the show's core themes down to its basics by focusing on a different relationship was so genius, and the realization of that relationship was so gorgeously done. /2
