This year's International Earth Day theme is Planet vs. Plastics.
Canada, and the world, need Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation. Extended producer responsibility holds producers responsible for the costs of managing their products at end of life - instead of municipal taxpayers.
EPR is based on the principle that manufacturers have the greatest control over product design & marketing and have the greatest ability & responsibility to reduce toxicity and waste.
