You too can buy a Tesla, and support the main share holder Elon Musk, who abuses his social media platform to convince his 185 million followers, that the US justice system is corrupt, because his favorite criminal is brought to justice.

Or you could buy from a different car brand.

MoiraEve,
@MoiraEve@mastodon.world avatar

@Gjoel I despise Elon Musk, and I’ve divested completely from Tesla stock. I am also aware Tesla far and away ahead in safe battery technology. No other American car manufacturer even close. Tesla chargers are the industry standard (am also aware Musk now expects someone else expected to lead charge in providing them nationwide). Tesla has 60% of EV market in America for a reason.

Hi, Fediverse,

I have my weekend blog post ready. It's a fun one because I answered a question about juries and I wrote about the Zenger trial.

What? You've never heard of the Zenger trial?

It's here: https://terikanefield.com/juries-and-the-zenger-trial/

(if you get the error message, wait a minute and try again.)

@Teri_Kanefield Did you consider using an A.I.-platform to moderate comments on your blog? I have no idea if an A.I.-assisted platform exists that can reliably appraise and respond to blog comments.

MoiraEve,
@MoiraEve@mastodon.world avatar

@Teri_Kanefield Moderating is very definitely the most difficult part of managing social media. In the early 1990s I worked for a large union that was conducting an experiment with AOL as a partner, and we were operating 150 chat rooms. We had to quit that experiment, it was beyond our staff’s capacity. @anathema_device

Chief Justice Roberts asks Justice Alito if, during Supreme Court arguments involving the 2021 attempted insurrection, he could at least not wear his “I ❤️Jan 6” pin. https://wapo.st/44YkKhH

@MissingThePt I’m glad Senators Durbin and Whitehouse wrote the letter and they’re attempting to meet w/ Chief Justice Roberts. Roberts hasn’t responded and I don’t have hope he will. For decades, Roberts was a foot soldier in the war to weaken and destroy the Voting Rights Act. He claimed America had made such strides toward erasing racism that people of color didn’t need protections any longer. That was a cover to make people think he was a good guy moderate. He is not.

According to The Washington Post, election deniers had already cost all levels of government an estimated $519 million. So MAKE THEM PAY. So far, their extremism has cost them nothing. State legislatures should amend their election laws now to prevent the sabotage of democratic elections in November by making election denialists pay—literally, financially—for putting the rest of us through this turmoil. Look: Trump is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Here he is encouraging the far right. Later, he claimed he didn’t mean it. But he can’t hide his record. And his allies still plan to restrict birth control nationwide.

Q: Do you support any restrictions on a person’s right to contraception?

Trump: We’re looking at that

This happened today.

If the US saw lack of ICC jurisdiction as a valid defense that exempts Israel from ICC prosecution, then US would not have welcomed ICC arrest warrants for Putin—who also rejects ICC jurisdiction. But instead the US happily welcomed ICC warrants against Putin, and stands by those warrants to this day.

International rules based order mandates consistency in law and the application of law—for opponents & allies alike. That's how justice is supposed to work.

MoiraEve,

@QasimRashid I was surprised the United States and Israel were not members of the ICC. Maybe I shouldn’t be, maybe this is naivety on my part. It’s possible the United States doesn’t want to be held to account for its actions by the world.

Stuff that can happen when your main experience of Irishness is 8 years of working with Joe "Malarkey" Biden 🤣

MoiraEve,
@MoiraEve@mastodon.world avatar

@twobiscuits I thought could have benefitted from better writing. People have gotten used to the Phoebe Waller-Bridges effect—surprises. It needed more of that. Integrate the supernatural element better into the storyline. The writers missed the opportunity to use the Catholic religion and all its mysteries to mine jokes. And for gosh sakes, don’t make the rookie error in close captioning by referring to the language spoken in Ireland as “Irish”. It’s Gaelic.

MoiraEve,
@MoiraEve@mastodon.world avatar

@twobiscuits Catholicism doesn’t have to be the least bit relevant to work as comic material, in fact, the jokes would work better that way.

A recent photo of my sketchbook, still training with ballpoint pen directly, a cruel training. But I am beginning to get a better ability to imagine perspective grids without tracing them, and I can even begin to plan full-page compositions. It takes a while to build these new skills, but they are worth it.
