So, uh, if you live in Arizona and enjoy having privacy about what you jerk it to, you should really get in touch with your local representative. A Porn ID law is about to pass which will directly hit e621 which operates out of Arizona.
With gumroad banning NSFW content do to payment processor pressures, can't help but worry about Itch. They've been very vocal about their NSFW community, but they use the holy trinity of hostile payment processors: Payoneer, Stripe, and Paypal.
Updated my Yes Porn Allowed List removing Gotm (Defunct), Gumroad (Banned Porn), and striking out Commiss.io (Creator is MIA as site bitrots). Finally got around to adding Dropp.
@AimeeMaroux Did it? Mine are still up (for now). They seemingly still talk about allowing various NSFW links.
Tho, I have found articles that they bar sex works so I will have to update the notes for linktree. Also, If you can find me some article or anecdote, I can add that as well.
I've updated my list on sites that don't ban sexual content. Added, Dreamhost and Pillowfort which are both social media with strong support. Additionally, I added Steam and finally Standard Notes.
after doing some research on writing my own vector animation engine (à la Another World), i remembered this incredibly beautiful 2D/3D #gamedev IDE+Framework from the mid 2010's called Polycode. does anyone else remember it?
Polycode was a joy to work with from a designer's standpoint: it was fully cross-platform, had built-in code editor, 2d/3d editor, and generated some really easy to distribute binaries. it even had a built-in sprite editor!
(you could also ignore the IDE completely and write C++ using the framework API.)
i'm so sad that the project never really gained traction. imo, it was the perfect middle-ground between Unity and lighter-weight engines like Adventure Game Studio.
@vga256 Holy hell, PolyCode is a name I haven't heard in ages. Never learned out how to use it sadly. Definitely should preserve whatever is left of it.
@vga256 I worked on a finicky hemorrhaging edge project in Unity. It crashed so often and loading it was painfully slow. I think a bulk of my time was just waiting for Unity to do Unity things.
finally got to that place where emergent gameplay begins appearing
in this #macintosh styled #wildfire simulation that's a spiritual successor to SimEarth, i added a Zippo igniter tool that lets you start uh... prescribed burns >_>
right now the fire spreads according to the prevailing winds at each tile, and the amount of burnable fuel and humidity in the tree stand.
each tree stand grows according to its local rainfall, elevation, terrain type and internal genetic factors. right now i've got half a dozen types of deciduous and coniferous trees modeled, but i'll be adding a lot more :D
Did you know I also maintain my own list of Good and Bad (for sexual content) Places? I've recently updated them include a social media section. Please share these around as much as possible. As far as I know these are the only list detailing the TOS of various sites and services w/r/t sexual content.
Boost are appreciated :boost_anim_vanilla:
Contributions even more so 🙏
I really want to emphasis the services part. A lot of people are doing adult content for income. There are lots of services that would be useful, but you can't touch. Patreon's MailChimp integration is what kicked this whole thing off.
I was using Patreon as a source of income, but I couldn't use any of the integrations is had to help do various task. The all banned me. And none of this was documented.
Every time discord (right) adds a new monetization feature I get a little more skiddish about the platform.
I remember back in 2022, PayPal wanted to update their AUP. It included a section that'd have ended most nsfw artist (left). Nobody even noticed this part cause all the attention was on PayPal trying to fine people for misinformation.
Payment process often cause harm to sex work, erotic arts, and queer spaces. So, I keep a close eye on these kinds of developments.
Since Mastodon is more nerd inclined, please consider helping me expand this list. It's been a while since I worked on it, but I got burnt out digging through legalese alone with disappointing results more often than not.
