I talk about racism in a direct way because throughout my immersion in white culture, I've tried every other way. I've found that as long as you give white people an out, they’ll take it. Soft voice is an out. This isn’t an intellectual discussion, this is a practical discussion of life and death. Maybe not for YOU, but for us.

I was a human services major. The whole first year our coordinator had us keep a journal recording our reactions to different people, situations, etc to identify our bias’. I didn’t think I had any but I found mine.
Quite enlightening.
We were taught to talk about it.
Im white & spent 3 semesters under supervision of different people who were all black. It was awesome for me to work w them. I grew up in a small, almost all white town.

Still no baby goats - really hoping today is the day (because tomorrow is all day Zoom meetings)

The plus side of having to go out to the barn at 2am to check on pregnant goats is that there were faint auroras (which actually must have been pretty bright just to compete with the nearly-fully moon), and I heard 2 great horned owls calling back and forth to each other.

Lots of gardening happened today.
The blooming raspberries prompted me to bring the huge spinning daisies out of winter storage. They are happy to see the sun again after a long wet winter.
Hopefully, they will work as well, this year, at scaring the birds away from our crop.
