In preparation for the dcss tournament, I'm going to make back stories for all my characters so that I really feel for them when they die. Maybe this will make me try hard.

I did this when I first started playing the game 20 years ago. It didn't help me then, but I was terrible at the game then. I think it took me 10 years to get a win.

A couple days ago I shaved my head because I haven't been able to get a haircut since... I think it was before the first day of my last job. It is the first time I've ever had literally no hair on my head since I was a baby.

It is weird as fuck. My head feels like it is wet all the time because that would be the only time my head would ever be cold before.

But my wife said I looked good. Then a little later she said I looked like a nazi. So... I guess I'm getting mixed reviews.

We are telling them to stop and don’t do this. You attacked a diplomatic mission, retaliation was inevitable and Irans response was relatively muted given it was in the form of easily shot down munitions.

Given that the US and the UK did a lot of the shoot downs of the drones, Israel seems like a chihuahua that barks and barks and gets into fights that its owner has to clean up.

We shouldn’t shield them again if they go on barking.

@khalidabuhakmeh revealed in the latest @breakpointshow that his standards for new hires went down the longer he was a manager (to give people a chance).

As someone who he hired later in his tenure, I'm glad that I met him when the world had worn him down enough to hire a train wreck like me.

I don't know why investors tolerate managers buying back their own stock (okokok, it is because there are tax advantages). In some cases it can be extremely beneficial to stock holders, but in many cases it is about the easiest way to burn cash.

If your company is overvalued, buying back your own shares is extremely destructive. Paying $1 for something that is worth $.90 is an instant loss of 10%. That isn't great.

I'd much rather get dividends so I can invest the money.

So we are going use an aircraft carrier to support Israel, one of the most powerful nations on earth, bomb Hamas and civilians in Gaza.

Fuck Hamas, I hope they die, but I don’t think we are going to win the hearts and minds of the people of Gaza if we kill a shitload of their children.

We do this all while we don’t do shit for the SDF against Turkey, the Armenians being genocided by Azerbaijan, or more forcefully helping Ukraine.

On a recent episode of Behind the Bastards, the host talked about how abusers were able to infiltrate the left in Germany after the war. They were able to hijack a good movement that was antifascist. They warped it in the worst possible way.

I know a lot of the privacy violating shit in tech is just on accident. But I wonder how much of it is just shitty dudes thinking of new ways to sneak in shit to abuse their partner and kids more effectively.

She did something incredibly stupid and jeopardized a case about overthrowing the government by the former President.

It just smacks of extreme arrogance and foolishness. It doesn't matter if it is legal or ethical. Even the appearance of impropriety is something you want to avoid in this situation because the stakes are so high.

Conservatives will never see legacy admissions as anything but meritocracy because they believe wealth and privilege are deserved. They, in their bones, believe that wealth signifies virtue, even if that wealth is inherited.

They see affirmative action as fundamentally unfair to them because poor and disadvantaged people are their inferiors in their world view.
