Is there no precedent this court will not depart from? We can't have individual states throwing Trump off the ballot because that would be “chaos” but we can have individual states creating and enforcing their own immigration policies as if they were separate countries? How on earth can the court justify this?

Nobody loves shutting out Black voters more than Republicans on the “Supreme” Court.
Joe Biden or Donald Trump will pick the next SCOTUS justice. It’s highly unlikely that there won’t be another opening or two before 2029, assuming the country would survive Trump.
I’d prefer Biden or Kamala Harris pick the next justices. If you care about voting rights or any other rights, you should, too.
The Republicans have been using appointed panels and eroding ballot initiatives for a couple of decades now. It's just another way to circumvent democracy.
House Republicans have embraced one job - create enough chaos and dysfunction to erode trust in institutions so can try and justify removing them altogether in favor of something suspiciously more like authoritarianism. They have one job and they are doing it just like their wealthy owners instructed.

The point here is Trump doesn’t want any trial, not even a trial a year from now. The request is for an indefinite delay not time needed to prepare a defense. He knows his only escape is to regain the presidency and forestall prosecution.
One true believer with a degree in zoology is behind many of the legislative and courtroom efforts to push forward homeschooling today. The ideology that drives him is conservative right-wing Christianity and he is determined to break our public schools.

What would be best is to have excellent public schools where everyone is safe. That’s the best goal.
It's disgusting that McCarthy in the House refuses to advance a bill that Democrats will support. Hmmm, pass a bipartisan bill or shut down the government? Only a tough choice for a politician void of principle who will do anything to keep his job, which he probably won’t anyway.
