@SteveFaulkner Hi Steve, Makayla has a couple of illustrations in a small exhibition in Kingston this week. We’re planning to be at the opening on Tuesday, if you’re around.

Why are my live regions not working? by @patrick_h_lauke

"Live regions have a reputation for being "flaky" and inconsistent. While this can be attributed in part to shortcomings in current implementations, the problem can also be caused by developers misunderstanding how live regions are intended to work."

“Accessibility isn't solely important in the final product; it's crucial at every step of the process. Adopting accessible practices from the outset unlocks your team's full potential.”

Re: AI and the future of Web accessibility Guidelines
'Absolute statements such as “it will never work”, and “AI will be better than people at X” are not helpful to the conversation because it is very unlikely to be an absolute result in the end. Different contexts, different machine-learning approaches, and different data-sets will produce different results.'

AI & the Web: Understanding and managing the impact of Machine Learning models on the Web

"This document proposes an analysis of the systemic impact of AI systems, and in particular ones based on Machine Learning models, on the Web, and the role that Web standardization may play in managing that impact."

AI and the future of Web accessibility Guidelines

"Once you bring in the "AI will do it" line of thinking, we may as well
just remove any author requirement, and WCAG becomes just a list of
requirements for AI user agents to massage any old web content into
something accessible."

From @tink

"may be of interest to know that the W3C Team is thinking about the
systemic impact of AI on the Web, and that it'll be a topic for
discussion at the AC meeting next week. As a result, I filed two issues
earlier this week that relate (to a greater or lesser extent) to the
point you make Gregg."
