Help I watched the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama when I wasn’t emotionally ready.

@robb Everyone needs a hug after that episode.

It's pretty depressing how many gamers are fine with the grind. They use the term fondly, they look forward to it. They don't care that this mechanic is often little more than a tool to drive sales.

I understand that taste is subjective and there are many games where I've had to slog to get that 'completionist' endorphin hit, but often a lot of these were before publishers were using it as a way to make money where they couldn't before.

I'm biased but I don't know why people can't get into football when you have drama like this.

Well done

Apparently the simple act of not logging into an Ubisoft account for merely 30 days is enough to trigger the process of permanently account closure including losing access to all associated paid content.

That’s quite some bullshit.

@wiredfire What an idiotic decision. All of them are fighting tooth and nail for some of Steams market share. This will drive more customers to Steam

Strider,
@Strider@mstdn.games avatar

@wiredfire It's fine. I followed the link and realized what was involved. It doesn't matter at the end of the day. What little money you save closing the account doesn't matter compared to the potential to earn money later, not to mention unhappy customers.

Which companies close accounts now. I had to change my e-mail account to get Facebook to leave me alone.

    I’ve never been able to find a default game I can fall back on when I’m bored.

    I see some people constantly playing the same game. I can’t do that. I lose interest so easily.

    Anyone else like that? If not, what’s the game you default to?

    @EighthLayer I've always had tunnel vision with games. It's only as I've got older have I had multiple games on the go (if I've been lucky)

    The game I've defaulted to has changed over the years. Pick a decade!

    Diablo 2's has a staggering level of complexity not evident on face value.

    It is astonishing how replayable the game is.

    If you're not played Diablo 2, you should and it was remastered (fairly) recently.

    Netflix is being really smart by investing more in games.

    The average indie-sized game costs 50-700k to make, meanwhile they allocate 100-200M for a film. I'm surprised they're not yet advertising games on the TV app, but I predict they'll be pleased with the overlap between audiences.

    I'm very ready for story-led games to get more attention and resource. They're 4-6 hour long interactive films for a fraction of the cost.

    Strider,
    @Strider@mstdn.games avatar

    @AshleyMarineP

    Most important of all is creative control. Netflix has had some hits and misses but I feel the vast majority of the shows I've enjoyed haven't been through the meat grinder of focus groups and idiotic executives.

    Let's hope the same is true for their games.

    I mean, I dunno. Do we really want or need another Willy Wonka film when the first one was perfect from beginning to end?

    On the other hand, it's directed by the guy who did Paddington, it has Chalamet, Coleman and a slew of other actors I really like.

    @LadyMarth01 Then we'll have to disagree. I love the books, I love the film and if I can't remember a poor musical number then it simply doesn't count.
