The Hungarian Ornithology Society has these collectible pins they sell for donations at various locations around Hungary. There are more than 300 species included, but the catch is, they don't tell you which pins you can find at which locations.

Today I went on a scavenger hunt and managed to find a care at the fourth try πŸ˜„ Yay!

A friend explained to her 7yo.
The kid's reaction:

"So I don't have to kiss anyone and I can still be a parent?! That's awesome!"

Just hit SEND on my Forgotten Greek Myths manuscript 😊

I did a half-hour long telling of the myth of Palamedes at Floralia today. It still felt rushed. I'm going to have to turn this into a full hour show. I think Palamedes deserves it.

Working titles:
"The hero that Homer forgot"

"Palamedes and the Invention of Everything"

Had a fun day at the Roman festival of Floralia at the Aquincum Museum in Budapest.

The Roman-Barbarian ball game devolved into a friendly brawl when fans invaded the field.

Barbarians cheered for gladiators by bouncing and chanting "IF YOU DON'T JUMP YOU'RE ROMANIZED", soccer fan style.

My toddler followed the gladiator fights with enthusiastic cheering and then in the end asked me "do they have booboos?" 🀣

Green field in the museum gardens, with a lapidarium building in the background. On the slopes there are hundreds of spectators. In the fieldnare gladiators waiting for the emperor's decision, facing the stands where the emperor sits in a purple toga. In yhe foreground there are half naked men dressed as barbarians, with the letters OSZTARK painted on their backs, imitating sports fans.

I am finishing up my mythology manuscript this week, and it is really hard to let this one go... I had too much fun with the stories. I found a lot of forgotten Greek and Roman myths or myth variants that surprised and delighted me. It was like a huge puzzle to play with.

Just read an article about a theory that the myth of Asclepius and the story of Alcestis used to make one continuous epic. Which kinda make perfect sense.

The story starts with Asclepius killed by the gods for trying to bring back the dead with medicine.

And it ends with a drunk Heracles bringing back the dead by beating up the god of Death and breaking some of his ribs.

Resurrection. Best accomplished with booze and wrestling.
