I’m 56 years old. Which means I’m about to endure my fourth cycle of twenty-something year old dudes discovering the weight room and Ayn Rand shit like they’ve just unlocked Enlightenment itself and by god I’m fucking so tired of it. And now they have podcasts.
I just watch guitar, fitness and space science videos there. That's it - and I police my feed and watch history judiciously.
And it still suggests Jordan Peterson, Crypto Tech bros, Joe Rogan, white guys ranting in trucks about immigrants and communists, Koch funded professors, and weird white supremacy guys with caliper mindsets non-stop. I click "Do Not Recommend This Channel" twenty times a day but the stream keeps flowing.

Been two years since my youngest child has been struggling with extreme anxiety, & a solid year now since she has refused to go to school. This last year has been the most difficult & trying year of my life - supporting my wife's career, help my eldest child through high school & deal with my youngest's psych/emotional issues.
For the first time in my life I am struggling w/ insomnia, weight gain, anxiety myself.
Not really sure how much longer I can maintain this, but day to day I manage.
So here’s something to think about. My high school & middle school aged Gen Z kids think Twitter was for crusty old people, their eyes rolled when I mentioned Mastodon or Bluesky… both already know what Threads is bc of the Instagram connection and want it on their phones.
