I'm an Australian woman, based in Meanjin / Brisbane, but in love with Argentina. In a previous life, I was a Trans activist, runner, and RollerDerby player. Now that we are all "post" covid, I feel like I'm still somehow finding my feet, and working out what I want to keep from my old life, and what I want to add to it! I have the feeling I will never get a final answer :)

@jo @3673167 I'm guessing it's because they're using an in-house AP implementation that doesn't behave in the way Sharkey expects. You can add them to a list/antenna, but I'm not sure if new content will federate with a pending follow.

Do you know when their next episode is due out?

I’ve always thought that was probably true. But the fail point is going to vary with every type and instance of a community. But given enough discovery tools that span and index communities, I don’t know that scale matters all that much.

I don’t know many people who feel some need to root their online presence in a particular “community” identity.

You need to speak to more vulnerable minority folk.

I run a lemmy instance and a microblog instance, and both are community identity based, but that doesn't mean much on lemmy, which is more group based. That difference though means that on lemmy, stumbling across, or being directly attacked by transphobia is more common than on the microblogging fediverse.

Community based instances let us find spaces that we can trust to put our needs first. I'm sure that need is not specific to trans folk...

@Rycaut @shoq Just to clarify Shannon, what I was mostly responding to was Shoq's suspicion of community based models.

I understand the appeal of group based spaces too, and spend a lot of my time in a space like that, specifically because of its differences to this community based instance.

The last few days, there has been a really friendly (and clearly owned and well cared for) cat that just wanders up and says hello whenever I'm walking past the bus stop.

I don't know where she came from, or why she's so friendly, but she brings a smile to my face :)

There are so many of us that feel like it will be impossible to ever be ourselves. I want to show what social transition, HRT, and/or gender-affirming surgeries are capable of doing for us because I know that would have made a difference for me once upon a time.

If you can reply or send me a direct message with your timeline or before/after images, and let me know whether you want your name/masto handle on it or if you would prefer to have no name/handle on it, I would really appreciate it! The piece in question will discuss a little bit of complicated history of the before/after transition images but then focus on the power of seeing how dynamic our bodies are and how much is possible through different kinds of transition. If you change your mind after sharing, I can always remove your images.

Fediadmins, are any of you seeing weird issues in your queues from lemmy instances?

lemmy.world was single handedly backing our incoming queue, as AP events would fail, and then be rescheduled to be re-tried again later. But then whilst waiting for them to re-try, more would come in.

We're seeing the behaviour from multiple lemmy instances, but lemmy.world is the biggest culprit, despite not being the most subscribed to instance by our users.

The activities in question are mostly votes, and Sharkey doesn't know what to do with them, so simply keeps retrying them until they fail

Does Mastodon have the same issue, or is it handling votes differently?

So I thought about it more... This is still likely more so part of my gender fluided deal really. But would it be odd to say kinda wanna be more butch but in like a butch lesbian way? Is that bad? does that even make senses?

It still feels odd to say out louder really I spent so much of my trans experience doing everything to not have any of that side on me.... But its very clearly there so idk feel like I am losing my mind nothing new

@e_urq Wait what? That article still plays in to the idea that trans women somehow have an advantage over cis women! Arguing that we should include trans women despite their advantage doesn't help anyone when that advantage hasn't even been shown to exist
