This says a lot about the state of the Russian media landscape. The press secretary of the Russian defense ministry has resigned, and this is a quote from the TASS article about it:
""I will be assuming new duties. Almost 7 years in the Defense Ministry have flown by like a MiG-31. I will remember this time with pride", - she wrote on Instagram (which belongs to the recognized extremist company Meta and is illegal in Russia)"

The parenthesis is part of the quote.

@hanse_mina They do have more surface Kalibr carriers, but they are based in Novorossiysk. I think that’s how that statement is supposed to be interpreted.

No country should buy Swiss weapons before they change this policy. The ability to transfer weapons to each other in times of need has proven to be a strategic requirement.

Russia has intensified the nuclear rhetoric, but that does not mean that we are close to nuclear war. In this video I discuss why is unlikely to use nuclear weapons in . The short version is that it would make the situation even worse for Russia itself, and that it wouldn't lead to victory.

@SuneAuken @rvps2001 Technically speaking there is a distinction here between jus ad bellum and jus in bello. Even if the war as a whole is illegal, they still have to follow the rules of war in how they do it.
The stupid thing is of course that if French soldiers are fighting on the battlefield, then obviously they are legitimate targets. That is what it means to be a combatant.

@jeppe Forstyrrede de undervisningen og den daglige drift af universitetet, eller kunne de ansatte og studerende som ikke var med i den politiske protest fortsætte som normalt?

@jeppe Måske en kortvarig blokade, men hvis det står på i ugevis, må der også være et hensyn til at andre mennesker skal have lov til at passe deres arbejde eller studier.

@jeppe Jeg ved ikke om det er let. Men jeg synes som minimum at demonstranter som laver sådan en blokade skal være opmærksomme på at det er en aggressiv handling. Om aggressionen er berettiget, kan man så diskutere, men man skal ikke bilde sig selv ind at "vi var helt fredelige".

@jeppe Det som universiterne gør, kan ikke sammenlignes med at udføre krigsforbrydelser. Man kan diskutere om vi skal droppe samhandel og akademisk samarbejde med Israel, men proportionerne skal være på plads.

@jeppe @paelse Politiet i USA er massivt underuddannet. Jeg frygter desværre at vi går i samme retning i Danmark med den forkortelse af politiuddannelsen som blev gennemført for et par år siden.

@tokeriis @jeppe Jeg synes nok også at det er at sætte tingene lige vel meget på spidsen at sige at hvis man handler med Israel, så er man medskyldig i krigsforbrydelser. Samme påstand kunne med lige så god rette gøres gældende over for alle som handler med Kina.

@kallekn In general I will say that the more under pressure the Russians feel, the more they will talk about nuclear weapons. So I would take this as a sign that they feel less confident than they did a month ago.

@kallekn Yes, I response both to Macron and Cameron, but also to the American assistance package. I don’t think the exercise will include actual nuclear warheads. My guess is it just means they will be practicing the procedures. Or maybe they won’t, and it’s all just for show. 😊

@kallekn Yes. It does seem that this is coming back after having been absent for a while.
My general take is that Russian use of nuclear weapons to win the war in Ukraine remains highly unlikely, but that we should be careful about ruling anything out if at some point Putin is fighting for the grasp on power in Russia.

@shuro @mok0 @kallekn @troed If Russia uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, countries like China and India will have to side against them. It could fairly quickly lead to them losing the war.
