@stephanie @msquebanh @Pagan_Animist fascist movements are sadly feeding off the dysfunctional effects of late stage capitalism, and it's momentum can keep growing and I hope it's won't. surprising? not really considering wealth inequality and neoliberalism of the past 30+ years. I think their messaging power depends a lot on illusion and posturing, but its always good to never underestimate their ability to shift conversation and frame social issues in a particular way.

Part of the mutual aid activism training I did with many new activists, over 3 decades, sometimes solo teach-ins & sometimes collab teach-ins - always included training several folks to work in relay teams to spot/document possible state agents/agent provocateurs & how to kettle & remove them from crowded protests & active large blockades. It's ESSENTIAL proactive training. There's always state agents & also right wingnuts who try to infiltrate big activist movements.

A new black squirrel has moved into our yard & I hate it because it killed the longtime squirrels family that has lived here for over 2 decades. This new invasive & aggressive squirrel has dug up over 50 of my recent transplants in garden too. I need to figure some new squirrel defenses for our food garden. Our past family of squirrels coexisted with us well & only dug up plants a few times but usually left our plants alone. They were happy with my regular squirrels scraps buffet area.

    radical responsibility is a new one to me, a re-hashed pull yourself from bootstraps garbage.

    Of course if everyone just looks solely at their individual selves then the robber in the room has a much easier time.

    Everyone should learn how to self-verify with their own cryptographic keys.

    Why rely on a third party to verify, where you have to upload your own ID?

    Verifying accounts with a central authority is laying trust in that authority, and taking risk, trusting them they can protect your identity and not abuse that position.

    The proof is in the history of identity and activity of the key.
    It is best to start learning now and build up an identity.

    I'm shocked joirnalists, academics, etc.are still using big proprietary platforms like twitter, x etc.
    I get the need for reach, but alternatives exist and people are willing to learn better platforms based on openness, libre, and user control.

    Someone explain to me why there should be any willingness or trust with these closed proprietary non/anti libre platforms?

    @LALegault it was always a call for freedom and justice based on Palestinian's relationship to the land, a relationship that continues to be denies for all the refugees kicked off their land and into squalor.

    Witnessing how that call for justice was slandered, while civilians in Gaza were being slaughtered, was grotesque showing, bullying, and an assault on intellectual freedom.

    Using proprietary software is not a safe long term positioning. Everyone should learn and embrace free and open source alternatives.

    Never used and are unsure if it is right for you? Find an old computer that is no longer supported with windows security upgrades and load up a beginner friendly distribution and mess around with it.

    Why lock yourself into proprietary path where data harvesting and intrusions into your life is the norm?
