How do people feel about the keyboard number pad.

I've always had full sized keyboards on my desk.
Only time that I don't have one is on laptops or "mobile" keyboards (BT ones for tablets 'n the like).

I'm starting to wonder how much I need the number pad for desktop use.

If I were to replace my current keyboard (Logi MX Keys) with one without the number pad - would I regret the expenditure?

I wouldn't have to reach so far for the mouse, and the keyboard could be properly central to my body.

I deeply regret buying a laptop for Linux with a hidpi screen. With two external 1080p screens, the scaling is all over the place and barely usable. Dangerously close to getting rid of the laptop and replacing it with a 1080p display one.

@popey The only way I get around this is to run the laptop at 1080p and do away with scaling. Not ideal, but cheaper than replacing the laptop :(

I do so enjoy the patterns Harvey (the cleaner) leaves on the rug after he’s been busy.

A photo of a grey rug with a robot vacuum cleaner atop it, making beautiful stripes with their brushes. The large googly eyes are clearly visible on top of Harvey.

@popey Does it struggle getting onto the rug from the hard floor?

We have a cleaner once a fortnight, but now I'm seriously considering getting a robot to keep the in between times under control.

Taking a holiday far away from home has reinforced the understanding of slow internet connections. No web page will finish loading when you expect it to. Even worse is when it is processed in a sequence other than starting at the top.

Turned up to the Gridserve chargers at Clacket Lane services on the M25 late this evening. Stupid charger wouldn’t accept my payment. Called up gridserve and they remotely rebooted the charger (which produced fun Linux kernel messages - hello qtwebbrowserkiosk), and then they remotely enabled the charger, free of cost! Nice!

@popey I tried to use their live chat once via my phone web browser. They said they would set the charger to free vend, but then the chat session went away.
Future me will remember to phone directly.

Bah! For the last couple of days my personal blog has been getting absolutely hammered by someone having deep-linked to an image (a gif) from https://rssing.com
I made the file 403, but it it's still hammering the site constantly for 3 days.
My server serves about 1Mb/s normally, with this it's nearer 55Mb/s.
