My younger granddaughter (1st grade) has been writing up a storm in school. Today she informed me that her class is now learning to do research and will be doing reports on Maine animals. I believe she's got raccoons. She uses invented spelling and loves to write.

In the spirit of showing I can do research too, here is an article I just found about brain worms. No satire: just info. Gotta keep learning!

Many things amaze me. One is the sheer number of horrible people who keep grabbing the news. They're everywhere! Some focus on shooting pets, others on grifting, still others on destroying our country, and lots of them multitask--Look at me! I can shoot my puppy AND tell lies AND attack democracy BEFORE BREAKFAST!

It gets me down, it really does. Life is tough even when we're nice to each other. No need to be greedy selfish monsters. Yet there they are. Aaaaargh! 👽

I'm preparing some online English lessons for a 13-year old Mexican girl. In looking at one website with free images, I searched for the word "working". Out of 100 pages, it wasn't until page 8 that I found a single image that wasn't individuals or groups using laptops, smiling happily, and definitely not doing physical labor.

For some reason this reminds me of the first time I used a manual posthole digger. I was a skinny kid and I quickly grew to hate that tool. Oh, well. Back to my search.

SCOTUS rules that presidents are indeed immune from prosecution. A few hours later trump's ss agents shoot him and say they were obeying orders from the President. And soon after trump's demise, several justices on Supreme Court are found dead in their offices. Is it a coup if SCOTUS says it's cool?

On the good news front, our roof solar panels produced 95.7 kWh today. I think the most we can get under perfect conditions is around 100 kWh, so getting close. Perfect conditions are cool temps, clear skies, and long days. Love it. ❤️

Big house (4 adults, three grandkids, 3 dogs) 98% heated & cooled with heat pumps. And we're in Maine where the heating season is long. In the good months we overproduce and the elec. co. stores up credits for us, and then we use them up all winter. The house actually doesn't produce enough so we own shares in a couple of solar farms too. Heat pump hot water and induction stove--electric everything. And two EVs but I try to charge them at our little business which always over-generates.

Should be clear to everyone: trump desperately wants to "win" (aka steal) the upcoming election for a few simple reasons:

  1. so he can cancel the trials that have yet to start

  2. grift grift grift grift

  3. revenge

  4. because Putin et al are pushing and pulling to get him back into the oval office so they can finish the destruction of the USA.

I'm 75 and this is the most important election of my lifetime. Vote Blue.

I've read that many investors in truth social say they're "in it for the long haul." I guess that means when the shares are trading at $0.33, their owners will hang on in hopes of a miraculous turnaround. Makes sense to me. Invest $25,000, watch it shrink down to $117 or so. Not much point in selling so you may as well hold tight and pray. Gotta hand it to trump; he grifts like the rest of us breathe. So many faithful followers begging to be fleeced.

There are many things I don't understand. Among them is why Gov. Desanitized of FL doesn't want workers to take breaks or drink water when working in blazing heat. Does he think hospitalized or dead workers are more productive? Does he think other workers will rush in to replace the ones who are dying of heat stroke? Does he enjoy human misery and wish to increase it? Is he trying to decrease Florida's population of workers? Even crazy capitalists must know that "dead worker" is an oxymoron.

It would not break my heart if after the first day of jury selection, the judge sent trump to jail for a night's incarceration on the taxpayers' dime. And if he breaks the gag order again during the trial, perhaps jail for the duration with no access to the internet, the press, etc. until the jury decides his guilt or innocence (if he's innocent, I'm the queen of sheba). It's past time for the big orange meatball to follow the rules. See how much he likes alternating between a cell and court.

According to my grandson (age 4 3/4) "a hundred is not a number but one hundred is."

Further questioning revealed that the same indefinite article 'rule' applies to "a" thousand, "a" million, etc. They are only numbers, he says, if preceded by "one, two, etc."

About 25 years ago my then quite-young son told me about negative fibonacci numbers. I didn't know they existed but it turned out he was right. So now when little kids set me straight, I listen. You never know. 😀

Theories:

God is pissed off at the delay's in trump's trials, so She stamped her foot and shook NJ.

As above, but She meant to stomp on Florida and missed. (In which case Judge Cannon better get her honorable ass in gear before her honorable courthouse collapses around her honorable ears.)

It was just an earthquake and it's good to be reminded that Mother Earth is billions of years old and in the sweep and span of cosmic history, we aren't special. Obnoxious? Yes. But not special.

trump's new lemonade stand franchise--There's one on every block, kids!--recorded $39.75 in sales last month vs. $36,532 in expenses. trump bragged that its value is "going through the roof" and that when it goes public, the new company will be worth "tens or hundreds of millions." (A few astute listeners noted that he didn't specify 'millions of what' -- grains of sand? Deer ticks?)

As far as early reviews, one young customer said, "It's yucky!" Another said, "Tastes like goat pee." Hmmm.
