You know how I know God doesn't exist? This so called "intelligent design" of a body we have has an I/O port (nose) seals up shut when sick causing breathing to occur through another I/O port (mouth). The former is designed to filter our foreign particles, the latter doesn't. Clearly this isn't intelligent to seal off one which affects sleep and recovery while the other systems of the body try to fight off the infection.

@whynothugo Fair point, but just one of many other thoughts I have as to why I don't believe any do.

Don't NOT make something because it exists already. The majority of things that already exist today suck and have turned rotten. They need to be remade with fresh eyes, tech, and humane perspectives.

FedEx hasn't updated my shipment for 6 days since the label got damaged and they needed to re-label it. I have no idea where it is. Not like you can really lose a 200# squat rack, but FedEx might be able to.

My $400 Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones disconnect about 3-5x per day from my probably $2000 Apple Macbook Pro M1.

Money well spent. heavy sarcasm

These same headphones NEVER disconnect from my 3 year old @system76 Galago Pro running @pop_os_official

Money actually well spent.

The only good reason to connect appliances to the internet would be so that we never have to manually set the time again.

blainsmith,
@blainsmith@fosstodon.org avatar

@cory A better solution is just to remove the clock functionality all together. It is pretty pointless what with all the phones and actual wall clocks folks have.

I'll gladly delete all that code! ;-)

blainsmith,
@blainsmith@fosstodon.org avatar

@cory We'd even save on electricity as well since all these appliances would not need to be on 24/7 just to display the time when they are not in use 90% of their life.

@cory Geez. Nothing that a well place nose whiff couldn't do more accurately right? Hahaha

Thinking about setting up a Discourse (forum) instance for writefreesoftware.org, where you can ask questions about using and reusing free software, free software licenses, and so on. Would this be a useful resource for you?

My tattoo artist told me there’s someone building a robot arm that’ll tattoo you but I’m absolutely baffled as to who would want that.

blainsmith,
@blainsmith@fosstodon.org avatar

I could see this being popular at tourist destination places that offer lots of stock/flash art for folks who want to rebel after a few drinks and get matching tattoos.

$20 vending tattoo machines like photo booths.

For those of us who see tattoos as more of an art form I can't see ever using something like that.
