We are completely overloaded. Nevertheless, we had a good time at . I am very happy with our loot. I didn't know about the existence of Everdell Farshore. I am utterly delighted by its design 😍😍 It's definitely my fav this year.

"A perfect balance of opposed and equal neuro-divergence."

So, I'm reading a scifi book where a type of animal evolved to surviving only as pairs. One of the pair a detail-seeking one, "the recognizer". The other the treat-seeking one, the "problem solver". Alien-Animals as Autism-ADHD pairs 😄

The author has an autistic son, so I guess that he may have thought about human neurodivergence when writing this.

It's from "Children of Memory" by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

Freshly bought at and now on my table: Cascadia Landmarks 🌲🐻
I played with it's new animal scoring cards and the landmark scoring cards. They add a nice component to the game without making it too complicated. Once you have an area that is 5 tiles big, you get a landmark token and choose a landmark scoring card. So every player can get unique scoring cards. There are also new campaign challenges, for solo and multiplayer 😊 Nice expansion!

When the outdoor swimming pools close for the winter, they open the area for a day of doggy swimming. It's lovely 🥰 Franco loves going into the children's pool, Panka is not so wild about water, but she enjoys the large area or getting sticks out of the water.

Finally played Expeditions (the thematic sequel to Scythe) 😊 It's not as intuitive as Scythe and I was a bit confused by the card management and where to trigger the actions. But once into the game, I liked it. Quick to play (60-90min), awesome artwork and a lot of possibilities to combine your cards. Hope to play it soon again.

We wanted to play "Trade On Tigris" from our Pile of Shame so that we could sell it. But then we really liked it 😂 I don't usually like games where you have to trade with other players, but this game was fun and entertaining 😊 So it can stay and will be played again.

Finished "But You Don't Look Autistic At All" by Bianca Toeps. She is a Dutch web developer and photographer, who lived in Japan and has a special interest in Disney Parks. Her book is a mix of various autism topics. I especially liked her chapters on Japan or on being an autistic person online. (Good advice: Don't be angry at everything. Choose your battles.).

I played two games of Turing Machine and I love this game 😄 I managed the first riddle in three turns and the second in two. It's a logic puzzle where you have to deduct the correct code from 4 to 6 hints. You can play solo, competitive or cooperative. Perfect game for anyone who likes logic puzzles 😊

Using a book ban list from Florida, USA, as an inspiration on what to read next. Weird times.
(It's "Yes, Please" by Amy Poehler. A memoir by a comedian.)

I've been living in Cologne for 11 years now. It has never snowed that much since then. The dogs are so happy and enjoy their playtime in the snow very much 🥰 And I don't have to be afraid of ruthless people on bikes nearly running over them.

I find it really exhausting how allistic people do tarot card readings of faces. I was with my friend over the weekend. She was getting dressed "why are you looking like this, do I look stupid?". I wasn't thinking about anything that moment. Or when she asked the waiter sth, my face wasn't right and she thought that I thought that she was embarrassing?? I'd tell her if she was (I sometimes really do tell her).

Currently re-reading Robin Hobb's Farseer Books (The Realm of the Elderlings). I started reading the series in 2003, the series finished in 2017.
So I kind of grew up with the characters, it is different compared to binge-reading a series in a short time. Now I am revisiting the books and the characters, Fitz and my beloved Fool just being young children, not having endured all the trauma yet. Let's see if the books will still be so magical to me 20 years later 😃

I had again a wonderful day of with friends. We played all the clever variants. I was so sleepy today that I made very low scores. But at least I won the last one 😎 And then we played Quacksalber. Tight victory with one point for me.
We also had delicious cinnamon buns and apple cake. This was a perfect autumn day 🍂 🎲

The game's name is Quacksalber von Quedlinburg. A game were every player has a cauldron. She blindly draws ingredient-tiles from a bag and puts them into the cauldron. You have to stop drawing before you get spoiled ingredients. It's a push your luck game.

Had a nice Snack & Play, in the "easy going boardgames"-Edition.
We played Fantasy Realms, Qwixx, Quacksalber and Hey, That's My Fish, to cool down from the hot weather 🐧

I was unsure because a lot of The Lord of the Rings games are bad. But after reading reviews I bought it for €36. I'm very happy so far, the material is great, the artwork is pretty and the book format is something different 😊 I'm looking forward to playing it.

A thing that I truly do not enjoy about apparently cishetsexual relationships is how often I've found myself saying “do you have any movies with women in them?”

blue,
@blue@autistics.life avatar

@Cassandra it's crazy how many older movies and considered "classics" do not contain women or just the one woman having a womanly role. Recently I watched The Abyss, a whole nautic horror movie about a man getting his divorced wife back by nearly dying.

Today we tried Qwirkle for the first time, what a nice game. I love the bag that the travel edition comes with 😄 Then my first time playing Cartographers Heroes with other players, way more fun than playing alone. And of course as a finisher the Clever variants 😄

Cartographers Heroes. A drawing game with a fantasy medieval theme
Clever 4 Ever. A roll and write game.
