Do you remember those screens displayed after POSTing and before booting OS? I don't remember seeing one on any semi-recent box I own(ed) or use(d)... Damn, I miss them.

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@tayledras yeah, Lolnovo-branded Thinkpads aren't the thing I was used to.

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@tayledras Yeah, most hardware still shows POST screen - at worst after flipping a switch in BIOS/UEFI config - but not that particular system configuration screen.

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@tayledras Fujitsu used to make really good hardware, I still have my 2014-era Esprimo Q520 as a media center and emulator-running PC. Quiet and capable.

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@tayledras Isn't that Lifebook from 2009? Would explain why it still shows it :)
I think all BIOSes/UEFIs dropped them in favor of printing some very basic info about detected drives, CPU and RAM (and maybe some USB peripherals) on the same POST screen and then going straight to OS bootloader which usually doesn't show anything that would scare the crap out of non-techmical user. ;)

I hate when programmers tell other programmers "Don't do this" "Don't do that". Don't listen to these people.

And don't gatekeep other people's code. Let people program however they want.

Worst thing is, person posting this DOES use early return in their code.

I think programmers just think they're better than others. "I can do this, but you can't". Don't be like that. It's not OK.

@sos

  • Please don't do it this way.
  • Why?
  • Because it's not how it's done.
  • Why?
  • Because that way is wrong.
  • Why?
  • Because it's not accepted here.
  • Why?

People post made with to and get thousands of followers then thousands of supporters on . When I post my all I get is either hate or crickets. I dropped using Ai Art Generator experiments because of all the hate I'm getting and my Ai generated artworks were all based on my own 3D renderings and using my own database.

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@keremgo time to grow thicker skin then. ;) Better yet, get off mainstream social media because it's full of clueless idiots, and sometimes directed by clueless idiots too. AI pic generators are just a tool and not using them because some doorstop told you so seems wrong.

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@keremgo where did you post your aiart and where's that hate? Anyway, trolls are eternal and so is blind, unwarranted hatred...

branch300bpm,
@branch300bpm@vivaldi.net avatar

@keremgo It's a matter of time when ai generators get sufficiently good and efficient. 3D graphics software used to be the same - slow, inefficient, requiring extreme (for the times) hardware power. As for flexibility, I found it (Stable Diffusion) good as a part of toolchain, not complete tool, but yeah, if you're used to 3D modelling then it's not going to cut it anyway, even if you use ControlNet.

By now it's probably mostly forgotten fact, but if you're in for some 16-color 32x32 .ICO nostalgia, the Moricons.dll is still available even in Windows 10 (not sure about 11). Look for it at %SystemRoot%\System32\moricons.dll.

EDIT: @SkySorcerer confirmed it's present also on Win11

You know what would be cool? Having private notes on profiles. That way when I block someone, a year from now on I could quickly recall why I blocked someone.

EDIT: turns out it's there already 🤦‍♂️

So what happened with my ticket? NOTHING. My post on the OVH COMMUNITY didn't appear either.

That leads me to idea that they're actually overbilling me.
Hanlon's razor tells me to assume that they assumed that I'm another braindead moron which can't read their docs and/or tries to scam them, so they're actively ignoring me, not even reviewing the ticket.

Other possibility is that they bill ALSO for the time instance is in shelving/unshelving state.

If you're doing synchronous streaming I/O and deciding on buffer size, you should take note of the underlying kind of storage. For SSDs, you should aim for 1MB buffer as this is most optimal for most SSDs, both SATA and NVMe. For HDDs, traditionally 64KB was used for decades and adding SATA standard and RAID0 into mix didn't change a thing, so you can keep buffer at 64KB.

We used to have apps that didn't require much more than working machine to run it on. Nowadays we need also internet, modern OS, separate in-app account and also we have to watch ads inside the app. If this isn't absurd then I don't know what it is.
