Currently looking for an plugin to actually render a social card in a post, not to be confused with a plugin that generate the cool meta tags in order to get a nice looking card on other websites.

Anyone got that somewhere? at the bottom of a pocket maybe?

@DavidDarnes @cory @nhoizey @GoOz @nicod @lene kinda like https://astro-embed.netlify.app/components/link-preview/ but make it client-side and framework agnostic 💜

In a desktop browser I'd want to include a CSS WYSIWYG not just to edit your own stylesheets, but also your view of others'! Advanced accessibility features! Barely needs to integrate into the browser itself...

This would primarily consist of a sidebar menu organizing form controls representing every CSS property. Anyone keen to mockup that menu?

As for CSS selectors, I'm ending up relying on interactivity to make them approachable!

1/2!

@alcinnz i think the Arc browser “Boosts” supports something like this maybe? Playwright UI mode has an ok selector mode too maybe

Who has any ideas on what a UI for complex data entry according to a schema might look like?

What might the dev experience for authoring these forms be?

I've got a couple vastly different opensource projects (both day & side job) which could benefit from an answer to these question!

@scottjenson @alilly I reckon you might have interesting thoughts? Feel free to get back to me later.

Bleh, Erlang/Elixir/Phoenix are really let down by Erlang's mediocre deployment story. Or maybe I've been completely spoiled by Go deployment, because yow. I guess I understand why the Phoenix docs steer you so hard to various PaaSes now :/

@danderson maybe the answer is wasm modules? 🙈

Note re: Tusky 24: Last year I was trying to contribute to Tusky by implementing one small, standalone feature per release (other team members do much more! but I'm still unsteady with Android dev). At the START of 2023, I decided my project was going to be upgrading our video player. This turned into a HUGE project that took literally all year and a lot of additional work by Nik Clayton but it's in now! Tusky now uses MODERN ANDROID VIDEO instead of ANCIENT ANDROID VIDEO https://mastodon.social/@Tusky/111529747149677651

@mcc i am still on the hunt for an iOS mastodon client that doesn’t lose the audio and has regular video controls.

@tootapp is my fave, but it has neither of those for me. @mammoth and are a bit better but still seem to be iffy

@tanepiper i still hope for some sane way to implement http/2 dev server support for vite w/o accepting a local self-signed cert for https 🙈

seems like the only way to go is an ngrok solution / tailscale serve

From @ratfactor 's blog post
https://ratfactor.com/leaving-github

> Independent FOSS developers do not owe anything to companies, including the slightest effort to "secure the software supply chain" for "consumers." As the licenses say, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND …

As somebody else on fedi once said, we ain't part of your corporation's supply chain because you didn't sign any agreement with us to that effect.

Still trying to find a good image optimisation pipeline for @astro that has good support for being used in framework components and can work with arbitrary paths (as in load content from variables). astro-imagetools is alright, but it doesn't seem to be actively maintained anymore and does a little too much. 🤔

It's the one thing I really miss from . 😅

Maybe I should try building something on top of the built-in asset system in v3. 🤔

@amxmln @astro have you tried out https://github.com/ascorbic/unpic-img ? i haven’t looked at it in a while, but it seemed like a nice cross-component image api

Need some advice Mastodon friends:

I have an old wordpress.com blog that I keep around only so the links stay alive. It is effectively a static website.

Any advice / tools to download everything (images, html, css, etc) into a static file structure I can publish to somewhere like Netlify?

Thanks!

If there were an opt-in lint you could run on code to assert a function you've written will never panic, how would you want (the default) to be when handling method calls on trait objects where some impls might panic? Error given that it could panic or downgrade to warning given that we don't know for sure?

why is layout order so complicated 😅

https://webaim.org/blog/flexbox-and-the-screen-reader-experience/

I want to use flex-direction: column-reverse but that's not accessible for sighted people using screenreaders

@aardrian's post is great though: https://adrianroselli.com/2015/10/html-source-order-vs-css-display-order.html

I think it's still a requirement to keep visual/DOM congruity even when you can't tab to the content, right?

praying that reading-order: auto will someday fix these things - I want CSS that is accessible PLS

calebjasik,
