I'm still trying to figure me out, find my place in the scheme of things. I do better and best when I'm doing. Major life changes this year, another reset button engaged. Fingers crossed it'll be the last one. I've never been tamed or settled, but thinking it might be nice for a change. Some days are better than others. Embracing tootfinder

@stux can anyone tell me how to do that, please? I'm suddenly getting a load of follows from these two instances?

During the heat here in Seattle I have an automation to run a huge house fan downstairs that draws out hot air & pulls cool air into the bedrooms (we're still That Seattle House w/out AC).

Since the HomeKit upgrade it's been hit or miss whether will update the trigger temp after I change the automation.

e.g. here Home shows 61° or 60° when it's set to either 62° or 65°

…who knows at what temp it will run ¯_(ツ)_/¯

(homekit hub is an ethernet connected 4k apple tv)

@ethanschoonover I don't have AC here either, but my whole house fan is in the attic and basically worthless. I've never heard of one situated otherwise.

Can't speak to the automation but I'm interested in the physics and mechanics

caragraph,
@caragraph@lor.sh avatar

@ethanschoonover thank you for explaining-- I think the attic fan is designed to work the same way, so I'm not sure why it doesn't.

I'm totally at a loss as to what to do here. Even the basement is overwarm, if not downright hot. It's like they built on top of a hot springs!

You've given me some ideas though, and I really appreciate it.

@beansmeansbooks I think quark is the equivalent of curds and whey at the stage where they haven't begun to separate? I'm a huge fan though probably in the odd camp in that (and more) respects 😉

They are fun but I'm surprised ausfahrt didn't make the list. Too familiar?

@doctorjaymarie exit signs on the Autobahn are labeled 'ausfahrt,' literally (I think) off drive. After my sister and her husband visited, he quipped, 'I can't wait to tell everyone I know I just ausfahrted all over Germany.' 🤣

A whole lot of Twitter applications (for using the API) have been shut down recently. Mine included.

Trying to find out why is pointless. There’s nobody left to answer you. You don’t even get an email with a poop emoji.

It’s a fucking ghost town, running on fumes.

@Green_Footballs isn't it nice you have a place to go where you can incessantly complain about it?

We cannot defederate from mastodon.social since we would lose too much of the Fediverse!

For now please keep reporting so we can suspend them while @Gargron is looking into the issue ❤️

People just hate boosting each other. Sad. @TonyStark @feditips @StillIRise1963 @Free_Press

caragraph,
@caragraph@lor.sh avatar

@TonyStark so what is a balanced and appropriate measure?

How many boosts versus original posts? And into which category do boosted content as replies to toots belonging to the account aggregate?

I'm seriously curious.

@NaturaArtisMagistra @feditips @StillIRise1963 @Free_Press

caragraph,
@caragraph@lor.sh avatar

@StillIRise1963 I often have the opposite problem, as I get boosted from accounts I have no relationship with of which I'm aware. But my rule generally is I'll boost back. I've literally gone back six days into some accounts seeing nothing but boosts.

There's a definite lack of original content in many accounts.

I like it that we're all doing it the way it makes sense for us. And kind of look askance at a blanket criticism that doesn't account for a general criterion upon which it's based.

The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.

For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).

"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.

There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.

It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.

Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.
