An old shaman smoking on the porch, calling the blues down from the Siskiyous, and the Pineapple Express up through the Two Rock gap.

He/Him or She/Her depending on what tickles your fancy and mine at the time (but also respond to the more accurate its/it - always a delicious experience). I've been both depending on the particular circumstances of whichever consensual reality I'm participating in, and see no reason to choose.

So, couch this in a what-if if necessary to maintain your paradigm's coherence.

As a three dimensional being, we use a two dimensional space as a canvas for rendering art.We use a brush or a pen to bridge the boundary.

Fourth dimensional beings do the same with the third dimension. We are their brushes and pens.

This becomes increasingly more terrifying the more you think about it. Especially when you consider things like who the hell is the artist? Am I being passed around in an art class? What exactly are they drawing? Who is the model? And why are they all drunk again?

On a personal note, I appear to be one of the crayons given to the crack-smoking kindergartners...

This month for my #FullMoonArt I've crocheted a tarot mat specifically for celtic cross readings. The different colored squares help to make connections between cards in these large readings. For example, the white ones are all future-based. I got this idea from @caribouslim, who made a cool tarot generator:
    https://pagan.plus/@caribouslim/111039327994613729

The colors of the cards made the core of the readings really clear for me, and I knew I wanted a physical one that I could place the cards on. I used whatever scrap yarns I had that worked together and added the black lines to mimic the craftsman-pop-art style of the RWS deck.

A long time ago, in a Portland far far away, there was a ritual the wild poets used to practice at Roxy's after midnight beneath the neon Jesus. It was dubbed .

The rules are simple, and resemble a rap battle. The first poet writes a verse (or a couple, depending on where the muse takes them). Then the next poet continues the work while the first drinks and smokes - taking the theme of the last line as inspiration for their addition. The second poet continues writing until they're thirsty or stuck, and passes it back to the first poet. This continues until they either run out of inspiration, intoxicants, energy, or both agree that the poem is complete. Last verse wins.

If you have more than two poets, teams of three or more are permitted, but be aware that this is a volatile sport that often results in brawls of extremely dangerous lyricism the more poets are involved.

There are no restrictions on style - you can respond to a novel's worth of rhyming iambic pentameter with a haiku if it fits. Duels are more than permitted within the context of the poetry, and often produce some of the best results.

Now I'm aware that most on the Fediverse are suspicious of poetry, and rightfully so. You never know when a strange line of verse will make you laugh, or cry, or question your existence - so I'll be pleasantly surprised if I find any participants this evening.

That being said, there's a huge potential on the platforms here to have the most massive battle of history, and to add hyperlinks and music and videos and all sorts of whatever crazy bells and whistles you want. Plus, it's and the Guinness just doesn't taste right without a bit of spice, so I'm gonna take the risk of shitposting into the void and kick this one off. Free boosts and upvotes to those who dare to reply in kind...

    Round one
    Staring at the sun
    because
The song of a holy pug
    Slipped inside the house
Setting eggs of inspiration a flower
    A bower of Bedouins
    surfing a timewave
as it crashed down into now
And how does the muse find you today?
Grumpy or frumpy or on the A train?
Are you in India? Egypt? Saskatchewan? France?
Do you wear lipstick? A mustache? Blue underpants?
Who the hell is out there that's got a lyrical soul?
There's no wealth for a miser who hoards the Fool's gold
So you may as well spill it and tell the untold
    I don't care if you're shady, I don't care if you're slim
I don't care if you stutter your green M&Ms
I dare you to open your mouth and let the world in
'cause the silence of a poet's heart is a mortal sin

"Besides, if you don't, I win!"
squawked the crow, with a most beaky grin...

The Weirdness level poll has concluded, with the following results:

    1% Weird - 0% of votes
    33% Weird - 29% of votes
    66% Weird - 48% of votes
    99% Weird - 24% of votes

Sample size was 21 participants. Results indicate that most folks prefer a weirdness level of roughly 50% - 60%.

What's interesting however, is that every participant desired at least a 33% weirdness level. This indicates to me that there's a need for considerably more weirdness in the world at large... but I'm probably a somewhat biased pollster, so take that conclusion with a grain of salt.

No one will believe this, but that's ok. We'll couch it in a what if to make it easier to digest.

What if, when you brought your creative will to bear, the energy that drove you to create was bound in your creation? A piece of your soul woven into reality. What would that look like from the other side of veil?

What if I spoke to someone from the other side last night, and they said that these creations are alive? That they ripple like firefish on the surface of an obsidian pond, the poetry swimming with the music, slipping through art and magick in fractal schools of imagination, the brilliance of math waltzing with philosophy, storytelling a prophecy of infinite possibility.

What if they sang that the Akashic record is a living ecosystem of imagination when seen from the in-between? And that the most curious thing is that even as we create it, it creates us - our dreams brush it as we drift in sleep, our desire is born within it, and we ourselves are the result of the creative spark in our parents eyes (or thighs, as it may be)....?

And what if this is why the fractal elves (themselves woven of this weave) laugh at us when we cross the boundary - just as we laugh at NPCs and characters like Deadpool who break the 4th wall?

Strong cast today - TL;DR: Today is a good day to do good.

    Here's our breakdown:

    Present: 10S
    Challenge: Priestess Reversed
    Past: Queen of Swords Reversed
    Future: Page of Cups
    Above:6S
    Below: Knight of Coins
    Advice: Devil Reversed
    External Influences: Knight of Wands
    Hopes and Fears: 2W Reversed
    Outcome: Strength

Starting with the 10 of swords, that's a card of the final triumph of battle, as well as it's cost. It's challenged by a reversed Priestess, rejecting spirit in favor of conspiracies and manipulation. In the past, the Queen of Swords (remember her from yesterday?) is still drunken and reversed, but the Page of Cups is upright, and leading us into a future of new loves and infatuations.

Above, the six of swords looks towards the recovery from battle, helping the wounded, and looking towards a new view of the world. Below, the Knight of Pentacles and Coins is saving for a rainy day, building basis of new inventions (the two cards can be very positive together, especially for those you help).

To make things weird, however, the Devil is drunk, upside down, and sitting in the Advice spot. I'm gonna let readers interpret that as they may, but in my view this is advice about how to deal with the Devil rather than a suggestion that we listen to him whilst intoxicated.

External influences show the Knight of Wands leading the viewer to become a catalyst of change, joining the positive forces of the 6 of swords and Knight of Coins. Hopes and fears are the 2 of wands reversed, indicating worry about misleading folks in a rush to complete your goals.

But should you persevere, you end up with Strength, upright and powerful, as the Outcome. As I said above, this is a good day to do good.

    caressing the burn scars
    with moonbeam teardrops

Does Dionysus still dance in the hills?
Do the Sasquatch still run free?
Do the fae still parade their thistle blades beneath the oaken leaves?

    They do for me
    Even in silent soliloquy
    the unseelie cacophony
    Sparkles bright against the entropy
    of cubicles and clenched teeth
fluorescent lights and too much bleach
the smell of the sterilization of imaginative belief

So I keep old Bacchus waltzing
make sure the squatches are well fed
belt out the blues for the little folk

Colors are associative groupings of card positions (past positions brown, present conditions yellow, challenges orange and future green).

Here's a test of a random reading taken at 9:42pm PST to see how it renders in the Fediverse. A Google Sheets update is in the works for those who would like the tool for their own use - let me know if you'd like a copy and I'll @ you when it's ready.

@13thFloor This one is for Cartoon Danny.

A not very long time ago, when I was on a shamanic calling, I ended up on the streets of Ashland, beneath the Sisikyous. I didn't know why I was there, other than the town is nexus of leylines that meet like a spiderweb, which turned out to be quite good at catching wanderers between worlds.

One of these wanderers was Cartoon Danny, a tall burly man nearing his seventies, with a burst of frizzy white hair and a top hat always adorned with flowers. He took care of a group of street kids, and I ended up becoming friends with him during the weeks I was there. He was huge fan of cartoons, especially Felix the Cat, and often channeled old cartoon characters in a high squeaky voice for much longer than was socially acceptable. Despite being homeless, he always had a bag of candy that he'd share with those around him, and he always carried a broom to sweep up after everyone.

Turns out Danny had been in Vietnam, commanding a unit that had huge morale problems due to losses to the Vietcong, until one night, one of his guys managed an insane night-time sniper killing streak. When he talked to the guy about it, the man admitted he was on LSD.

Danny was astounded at the effect, and started letting his guys take it to up their edge in the jungle. It was an amazing success, but Danny's superiors weren't happy with his methods after they found out. His units' activities were classified, and he was transferred to a desk job for the rest of the war.

When I heard this story, I responded "Holy shit! Have you seen the Men who Stare at Goats?"

    "Whadda fuck is that?"

After the war, he ended up as a beat cop in San Francisco, and immediately ran into trouble again, as it was the summer of love, and he wasn't interested in busting people for smoking weed or dealing LSD. As a result, he was eventually kicked off the force, and he started a career panting windows.

He had ended up on the street in Ashland after his RV broke down in the mountains, and was towed before he could fix it, leaving him stranded for at least 2 years when I found him, partying every night and drinking as much as possible with the group of street kids he looked after.

One of those nights, I came around the corner to find him collapsed on the ground, lips blue, his kids screaming and calling 911. He'd done a hit of fent with them and collapsed.

The kids were freaking out, so I took the phone. The kids had given him liquid narcan and rolled him on his side (to keep possible vomit from choking him), but he wasn't responding and they were too high to listen to the 911 operator.

The operator told me to roll him on his back so the narcan could drip down his throat. Once this was done, like Lazarus, he started breathing and woke up just as the paramedics arrived.

After he was released from the hospital, I kept watch over him until it was time for me to leave Ashland. When he asked me why I was always hanging around, I responded

"Don't you get it man? There is nobody else in the world like you. You have shown kindness through all sorts of horrors, and you care for those around you even when the world has taken everything from you. Yeah, you're a drunk and a goofball and an addict, but you're a good person who's giving out kindness to those who need it most. You're the kind of person who makes the world a better place to be in. Why wouldn't I want to protect that?"

While he still drank during our time together, I never saw him hit the oxy or fent again. I hope he's still out there someplace, sweeping up after his street kids and tossing out candy with his Cartoon Danny cackle, fresh daisies tucked in the band of his battered top hat.
