@annaleen Setting aside baguettes and croissants and brioches, what French breads would you recommend?

I've been known to distractedly chew on my tongue in a way that has been described by observers as obscene.

Good evening comrades!

Who are some of your favorite musicians that bring you a huge smile?

Do my comrades love their plushies / stuffed animals?

Are they a big part of your life?

What do they mean to YOU?

Who are your favorites? Where are they from? Is there a story?

Introduce them!

In our home, we somehow ended up following the rule that there must be an animal for each trip we go on, and it must be in black and white.

I realized today that I'm still wrapping my mind around the Fediverse. For example, if I want a Lemmy account, do I have to have a separate instance from my Mastodon account or can they be the same (and if so, how?)

Any help is appreciated.

carturo222,
@carturo222@geekdom.social avatar

@montecook
To post and read Lemmy content from within a Lemmy website, yes, you'd need to sign up at a Lemmy instance.
Another, more convoluted option is to paste Lemmy links onto Mastodon and reply to them from here, but it doesn't always translate well. Especially creating new Lemmy posts from Mastodon is a headache if you don't pay attention to the order of formatting.

carturo222,
@carturo222@geekdom.social avatar

@montecook Even worse, following a Lemmy instance from Mastodon will inundate your timeline because Mastodon doesn't know how to distinguish between a main Lemmy post and all the replies to it.

carturo222,
@carturo222@geekdom.social avatar

@Tim_Eagon @montecook For Lemmy and Kbin, I've been tempted to try managing everything from Friendica, which does import posts with replies in the proper format.

    We often hear the phrase "first they came for the [vulnerable marginalized group], but I didn't say anything ... then they came for me." Simplistic, but we have actually seen this happen repeatedly in history, where a repressive regime starts with soft targets.

    We also often hear "if we don't protect Nazi speech, they'll come for [vulnerable marginalized group] speech." I can't think of any real-life examples of this, though. Can you? Please advise!

    @annaleen It appears that the American occupation of defeated Germany went too strict with the supression of anything remotely resembling Nazi speech:
