Yeah. A kernel by itself is not exactly useful, and when you say "Linux" as compared to Windows, I think "kernel" is not what most people will think of first.

It’s a great example of how much power Apple wields with the App Store that they mandate product design such as every social app must have a block user feature.

Government regulations are onerous but none are as onerous and as able to shift your entire business like the PM who drafts the rules for the App Store.

Anyway, Elon likely can’t remove the block feature from Twitter/X.

Networking And C++ adjacent peeps i have a problem that may not be a problem but I need help !
I have an Openframeworks app (on an rpi) and an ESP32 using the AsynTCP lib that conects to the OF app. once conected the OF app sends 100bytes of data at 25fps. what im seeing on the esp32 is that data sometimes arrives in 100b blocks but other times in multiples of 100b. Its like its merging the stream. what gives??? is this normal behaviour?

@wow_elec_tron there's something called "leaky bucket" algorithm. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaky_bucket that's used in a few places (networks, disks, ...) Where multiple small writes might get combined.

If you write your own code, take a look if there is a "sync" or "flush" method.

Been here for years. I made the decision in 2017 to post on Mastodon first. In 2020 I started my own server. In 2022 I decided to no longer post on Twitter. I can't bring myself to delete my account over there (yet), but I will not provide them with any more free content.

Boah, Leute, es ist ganz schön anstrengend, hier dieses Social-Media-Game aufrecht zu erhalten, wenn eins gleichzeitig Ziegen opfern muss und dann auch noch verhindern muss, dass die Kobra aus dem Drucker ausbüchst.

    Wenn man darüber redet, dass jemand das N-Wort benutzt hat, darf man in der Sachverhaltsschilderung das N-Wort benutzen? Oder sollte man auch da die Umschreibung "N-Wort" verwenden? (Grundannahme: Es herrscht Einigkeit, dass das ein beleidigender, mindestens abwertender Begriff ist.)

    Zum Vergleich: Jemand nennt eine andere Person "Arschloch". Dann würde man ja auch sagen: "A hat B 'Arschloch' genannt" und nicht "A-Wort".

    @larsreineke (kein PoC) ich handhabe das so, dass ich nach geeigneter Einleitung/Vorwarnung/Einordnung das Wort einmal klar benenne, und im Nachhinein selbst nicht mehr verwende. Das mache ich bei allen Sachen, die ich selbst nicht verwenden würde, wenn ich auf der Meta-Ebene darüber rede. So besteht innerhalb des Gespräches kein Zweifel worum es genau geht.

    Im Fall vom 2. Beispiel ("Arschloch") würde ich es immer aussprechen, weil das in meinem normalen Wortschatz durchaus mal vorkommt.

    @ErictheCerise yep. I've seen the case of an author being absolutely powerless, because amazon won't remove books that are published in her name without her consent.

    This is going to get soooo ugly before anyone starts paying attention.

    @heiseonline Es ist kack-egal, was wir meinen. Es ist für die allermeisten Artikel unnötig, eine weitere Umverpackung drum zu machen. Dass sie entfällt ist gut. Was die Motivation dahinter ist, ist allerseits Mutmaßung.

    Dieses Engagement-Gehasche braucht ihr natürlich auf YouTube und so, aber könnt ihr das hier einfach lassen? Was meint ihr dazu? Schreibt's mir doch unten in die Kommentare!

    Vor meinem Büro kollabiert gerade auf vier Spuren der motorisierte Verkehr. Viele Fahrer*innen sind dermaßen aufgeladen mit Aggression und Hass, so unfassbar wütend darüber, dass ALLE ANDEREN diesen verdammten Stau verursachen.

    Few of them would pass as citation, none of them are proof. Most of them are not related to the problem we've (I think?) established is our main difference (ab = (ab) vs ab = ab - how "hard" the juxtaposition binds.)
