@dimillian Just been testing the mute functionality in Ice Cubes, and muting a user doesn’t remove them from my timeline if they were boosted there. Bug or design? Either way, doesn’t seem expected behaviour. 🐞

endareth,
@endareth@disobey.net avatar

@dimillian Okay, so one of my main uses for muting (especially short term) is for when my timeline gets flooded by something and I just want to strip it out. I’d then mute it, and ideally the filter would then be applied immediately to strip those posts from my timeline. Can this be added as a feature request please?

endareth,
@endareth@disobey.net avatar

@dimillian Isn’t it data-bound rows? Couldn’t you just add the filter in front of the data connection?

    I was recently like "you know what this organization could really benefit from? A password manager."

    The response was "Hey, good idea! You figure out which one we should use and get back to us!"

    Do you have recommendations for a password manager system that allows granting individual users access to specific things in one UI?

    Bonus points if it's integrated with Office365 or whatever they call the Outlook server infrastructure, because everything there is using Microsoft stuff. Searching seems to indicate Office365 doesn't offer this natively?

    (Boosts appreciated)

    endareth, (edited )
    @endareth@disobey.net avatar

    @nyquildotorg Easy, @1password , AD SSO integration, very granular permissions, and great UI and integrations to heaps of stuff.

    What password manager do you all recommend for a family plan? I want to get my parents on a shared plan in case we need to share passwords, but they're not particularly technical. I currently use BitWarden, but I'm not sure if another would be a better fit, or have better integration with Windows/Android/macOS/iOS.

    endareth,
    @endareth@disobey.net avatar

    @davidism For any sort of group/family stuff, wins hands down. Been using it since v1, never had any usability or security issues with it. Pricing is the only area anyone can complain about.

    This is the second time an Apple Macbook triggers our smb honeypot and opens all files.

    Is there a feature on which automatically opens all files on an smb share it has access to?

    endareth,
    @endareth@disobey.net avatar

    @Newk While not enabled by default, it’s pretty easy for someone to switch on Spotlight indexing of all network shares, then you’d see exactly what you’re describing.

    mdutil -as will show any network volumes it’s enabled on.
    sudo mdutil -i on /Volumes/NameOfYourNetworkShare will turn it on, or use off to turn off.

    @yawnbox@disobey.net avatar

    hello. here is some of my authentic take on . please attempt to reject feeling hate towards me because i think differently than you. my opinions really don't matter.

    (subjective) i do not like Facebook. I do not use it because of this. Zuck is a shitty human being. a lot of people that choose to work for Zuck are shitty human beings.

    (objective) using a powerful tool like censorship must be done responsibly, otherwise you are doing an authoritarian thing to an authoritarian thing. this is not to be confused with boycotting...

    (subjective) ...which you should strongly consider. that is why i don't use Threads. Just... don't engage.

    (subjective) i don't want to behave like an authoritarian. there are a lot of good people who use Facebook products. it sucks, i know. but they are there, and...

    (objective) ...committing censorship is only going to prevent those awesome people from becoming aware of the wider Fediverse, and potentially making it impossible for those awesome people to become immigrants to a better server (aka, to a better country).

    (subjective) i don't like building walls to solve problems, when the problems have to do with a very large body of people who are disproportionately negatively affected by something like censorship. arguably, in my opinion, censoring Facebook is like building a wall between the US and Mexico.

    (objective) Facebook banning sex workers is a form of censorship. why would we then, in turn, treat Facebook by doing the very same thing that is bad to begin with?

    (subjective) in my opinion, Facebook is not invading the Fediverse. We are invading Facebook. it's not clear what policies and procedures Facebook will do in response to engagement they don't like. AFAIK they may censor entire servers that they don't like. So, the trash is taking itself out?

    (subjective) if we do not want Facebook to "ruin the Fediverse", then be here. be a part of a healthy Fediverse. bridges, not walls.

    endareth,
    @endareth@disobey.net avatar

    @yawnbox That pretty much aligns with my thoughts too (just way better explained/detailed) 😃
    I’d never touch Meta/Fb/Threads itself with a ten foot pole, but there are still some people/orgs who, for whatever reason, only post there. lets me bridge that gap—I’ll still be able to interact with those people without needing to interact with Meta. And just maybe I’ll persuade one or two to jump ship to elsewhere in the !

    On Street Parking is a failure of urban planning. It has always been. It should be illegal henceforth, at vehicle owner's expense. All future planning should not account for on street parking.

    Just came across a weird in a new Prime 20,000 mAh Power Bank: while playing with the single button to cycle through display/function options, the display suddenly switched to something like a couple of eyes (sort of ^ ^ but curved), which animated a little before changing to the Battery Information screen for a few seconds only before then switching off. Definitely deliberate animation rather than glitch.
    Can’t reproduce, not seeing anything else online, really curious if anyone else has seen or heard of this? Would appreciate boosts for reach!

    @verge Why does no one ever include ’s almost perfect 3-in-1 Foldable Charger (https://kuxiu.co/products/x40-stand) in their lists? After initially getting one just for travel, I’ve ended up picking up two more as they’re just such good value, so flexible, and have a great minimalist style to them! They’re currently just $60 USD, and include a case, cable, and 20 W charger. While they may not charge an iPhone at 15 W, everything about them is unbeatable.

    @Damiga It’s not even corporate, and this is relatively new (have previously had Exchange accounts on iPhones without this issue). Looks like a restriction/limitation of the current ActiveSync version.
    And all it should have to do to be secure is delete the Outlook data, it’s overreach to wipe the whole device (also stupid as one could simply restore from backup).
