is now at peak -industrial capacity, practically zero unemployment, pay hikes because not enough labour force to man the weapons factories. 35% of government spending go to military. 7.1% of GDP. All of it to go up in smoke in

However, if we look at the numbers, this output only matches current EU military spending. Countries which are on avg spending less than 2% on it currently.

Tell me again how Ukraine supported only by Europe can’t possibly win?

fnord99,
@fnord99@mastodon.online avatar

@gimulnautti lack of manpower, lack of ammunition. Recent conscription failed, and NATO lands productive capacity on weapons is nowhere near russia's. It takes huge investments and years, to increase sufficiently.

The first thing Russia does after occupying our territories is destroy all the children’s books in Ukrainian, including Ukraine’s history books.

This all happened centuries ago when Russia tried to forbid the Ukrainian language, so it can later be said that it never existed.

@hanse_mina it has a lot to do with the post, the removal of the other part's culture is pretty similar. Russians are removing Ukrainian books, Ukraine had started to do this already since 2016 within its own territory. Despite the fact that many Ukrainian citizens spoke and read Russian. In the EU we cannot even dare thinking to do this to our minorities.

    After 3.5 months where had the initiative, now it is which is more actively attacking, while Ukrainian forces try to not lose territory.

    With winter fastly approaching, it is highly likely that Russia will get to hold the acquired territories undisturbed at least until May 2024.

    @EyalL there is no proof or even a signal that any advance has been done in the last week by Ukraine. A Russian collapse is merely wishful thinking

    fnord99,
    @fnord99@mastodon.online avatar

    @EyalL i see. I follow mostly liveuamap.com, there is no sign of advance there. I guess in some months it should show then.

    fnord99,
    @fnord99@mastodon.online avatar

    @EyalL so how is the "still gaining ground" going for Ukraine?

    fnord99,
    @fnord99@mastodon.online avatar

    @EyalL i seriously doubt that any F16 at all will be seen in Ukraine. US support is finished. EU is not enough. Russia is gaining terrain, they can go on for 10 years like this, guaranteed. They have re-entered the Kharkiv oblast now, and and they are preparing the ground now for the sharp advance right before the March elections.

    fnord99,
    @fnord99@mastodon.online avatar

    @EyalL they have made (small) gains. Last one today, Tabaivka in Kharkiv oblast. And this is the slow-gains season. End of February will see an acceleration. Putin knows that Biden is powerless and Trump after Biden, will be very favorable to him.

    @Loukas @polezaivsani @hanse_mina my timeline reflects what i think, and mostly is against propaganda of any type. I hate propaganda because it tricks people into taking the wrong decisions . I try not to buy into any type of propaganda. I hate Russia's attack on Ukraine, of course. I also dislike when people intentionally use their freedom of speech to hamper the others' freedom of thought

    The U.K. has been sending Royal Air Force (#RAF) planes to protect Black Sea vessels carrying grain shipments from Ukraine, a Downing Street press release disclosed on Sept. 7.

    The U.K. Defense Ministry began providing aviation security to Ukrainian ports following a wave of Russian attacks on grain infrastructure in July, when Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

    @hanse_mina they are just "watching", no engagements in any fight. From the press release: "We will use our intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance to monitor Russian activity in the Black Sea, call out Russia if we see warning signs [...]
    As part of these surveillance operations, RAF aircraft are conducting flights over the area to deter Russia from carrying out illegal strikes against civilian vessels transporting grain."
