What if I...

  • set up an instance specifically for federating with Threads, for people who do want a window into that space
  • (maybe using one of the lower-maintenance ActivityPub packages)
  • ...but also allow spambots to sign up

Are there people who want access to the Metaverse but also see the value in trying to make it unlivable? (Would it be likely that Threads would de-federate from a spammy instance, or is that "free speech" and therefore automatically good, or what?)

garry,

@woozle I'll just be looking more closely at the instance URLs of people I might want to follow, or who follow me, and vetting Threads users more closely, provided I can actually see content they've posted.

After my last boost I thought I'd see if I could find a photo of the Sony Walkman I had in the . No. And that's with Google and Bing with numerous search terms. Considered looking for 80s Argos or Littlewoods catalogues scans but maybe later. What I did discover, though, is that there were a hell of a lot of Walkman designs in that decade.

That then made me think about the I used to have. I did find a photo of that, and it was called the Soto, apparently. Loved that thing.

garry,

@neonbubble Do you remember the model number?

@mkhoury You just delete the "one out of five" from the front. Or, rather, the sub-editor does. Clickbait is his life's work.

garry,

@roguemusiclab I saw that here in London some years ago. A very moving experience. One poor soul started heckle-shouting because it was all too soft and unmanly for him. The crowd bayed at him. The police moved him on.

Good news! Mona will be a one-time purchase app, and will be available on App Store this Spring:

Hum. I don't know what these are but I spotted them yesterday in Golden Gate Park's Botanical Garden which means they are botanical. Probably poisonous.

Enjoy.

My iPhone's Photos app recognised them as Buddleja globosa, also known as the orange-ball-tree.
