Hill I will die on: you cannot effectively QA software that you wrote, so SOMEBODY else has to do that. Removing the QA folks will cramp the software team’s velocity pretty quickly.

Talking to friends across the tech industry, and orgs with inflexible RTO mandates are about to enter the “find out” phase, if they haven’t already. That kind of actively hostile policy stance only works if everyone is doing it, and too many places have seen the light (cf. Atlassian report)

@darkuncle I kinda wonder if this isn’t an area where orgs that are hybrid for justifiable reasons aren’t better positioned. We’ve got onsite folks who do lab work — they HAVE to ge onsite to do that. Consequentially nobody is sweating the pure software folks to occupy space…

Look. Firefox has been my daily web browser for years. But I run at least 3 browsers daily. I have suffered through all of the bullshit because I believe that we need diversity in browser engines.

I know Lunduke is questionable, but if you wanna dig on folks reposting him, write your own critique. Because it's clear that Mozilla's software processes and priorities are not building a great product that is going to thrive, and something has to change, and his theories are as good as any right now

@est there’s just a bunch of weird friction with safari — e.g., I don’t want pinned tabs to show up in every window, just the primary one. I want tabs to auto-refresh even if they’re not focused. Etc etc.

since I was doing tests with the Squish framework, I've found some bugs in the application under test, so I wrote them down in a file labeled "squish bugs.txt"

@bitprophet the rationale behind that list of states is both far above my pay grade and completely opaque to me, sadly.

Initially, Github-based CI means literal GHA; down the road there's some potentially more involved CI involving things like AWS-based runners, etc.
