Meta apparently found that chronological feeds "caused people to log off" and engage less with their platform, which is why they don't like them. https://www.wired.com/story/meta-just-proved-people-hate-chronological-feeds/

Perhaps it's because they saw what they wanted to see quickly, and went on with their lives. Instead of wading through a ton of engagement fishing outrage-bait and doomscrolling their way through the day.

We know by now that high engagement does not equal healthy usage. Meta et al thrive on unhealthy patterns.

It looks like #GNOME is ready to embrace #jpegxl into its ecosystem! Wallpapers are being switched to JXL from WebP, & GNOME Web will adopt JXL support through WebKitGTK. The GNOME SDK is also going to be built with libjxl from now on!

#Aviator 0.4.1 is released recently with the following changes:

• The custom SVT-AV1 fork used in Aviator has been updated, promising up to a 40% speed improvement for the slower, higher quality presets
• A new “Crop” option for switching between cropping & scaling resolution has been added
• The internal SVT-AV1 parameters have been tweaked for a 0.3-0.8% improvement in perceptual quality
