Just testing Moshidon as my new mobile client. Looks good so far, not too far off the official app but with some added features and a slick Material You interface.
Looks like @pluralistic isn't the only one using #ProductivityPorn as an established term. Here's Cal Newport in 2020:
“[…] the productivity pr0n movement continued to thrive because the overload culture that had inspired it continued to worsen. G.T.D. was joined by numerous other attempts to tame excessive work obligations […]”
Wasn't the #Fediverse the friendlier, more diverse, and safer alternative? Well, not so much. Thanks to the FOSS Taliban, another well-loved creator leaves #Mastodon for good.
Hey #FountainPen people, I own these two vintage #Parker Sonnets. They are both excellent pens, but the cap on the blue one sits a bit loose. It doesn't fall off by itself, it stays on. But it's one of those things that can drive me crazy. What can be done? Any suggestions?
Today, another vintage #FountainPen found its way into my collection. A friend gave me this #Élysée Caprice Delphin (green-grey metallic lacquer with a 14K gold-plated nib) he has no use for any more. The plating is not in the best shape, but overall the pen is in good condition. It has been used a lot, but well cared for. I was able to identify it through this excellent website:
Let me introduce you to my latest vintage #FountainPen I found last Saturday at a flea market: It's a Christian Dior with a sterling silver barrel and cap and a 14k gold nib. According to this forum thread, the pen was made by Caran d'Ache and the nib is by Montblanc. I'm thrilled, because I bought it at the stand without checking online, I just noticed the silver and gold hallmarks and went for it. It needs some TLC and has some dings, but the price was a steal.
Today was day 15 of my #30DayChallenge in writing #MorningPages. First conclusion: (1) It's great to be able to use a different #FountainPen every day, (2) the magical epiphany hasn't happened, but I'm now starting my daily planning in a more structured way, and (3) I can use my fountain pens even more often 😅
So, #Norqain is, for the first time, in Geneva at #Watches & Wonders. And they try what has been tried several times before, an online configurable watch model. So far, no one really succeeded at this, and I think they will fail, too. Sadly.
@gisiger I was thinking about the target audience and just have no clue who might be it, the mod community usually seeks way more options, and at this price point, someone might be more inclined for that money to be spent on the quality of the watch rather than interchangeable parts. Certina might be having some success with the DS+, they're still selling.
@gisiger@r_df_ng agreed. I think they are well past the point where they are missing the target audience. Imo Knot in Japan has the better approach where you keep it very casual with selecting a model and quick release straps, each with their own story/sale pitch. Once you step into modders territory, it’s game over.
@ramblingreaders The problem with that error is worse than I thought. Now I can't even manually add a book any more. I get the same generic error each time I try. Any news about it?
@ramblingreaders No problem, stuff happens. I tried to add the German version of Allen's GTD several times. The error also occurred, after I was able to import it and tried to edit the book.
I have yet to try to import, edit, or add other books. Might do that soon.
@gisiger The problem with manually adding books or importing them via the external database search results should now be fixed. Please let me know if you continue to experience any issues.
@ramblingreaders I tried to import a book from OpenLibrary and two other Bookwyrm instances and I always got this generic error message:
Server Error. Something went wrong! Sorry about that. Any idea why?
@gisiger it is possible that it's a bug introduced with the latest version of BookWyrm. I will make some enquiries whether others are having this issue. I was able to reproduce it with a book I tried to import from a random search.
No April fool's joke: Today, I started a #30DayChallenge of writing #MorningPages every day for, well, 30 days. Mainly as an excuse for using my #FountainPens even more often 😅 No, seriously, ever since I read about this form of journaling, I wanted to try it, so I finally did. It took me about 12 minutes to fill the 3 A4 pages. I will report more about it in the future, as I was and am still quite sceptical about the whole thing.
Hey #PKM people, as it seems fashionable here to humblebrag by posting screenshots of graphs: What exactly are the benefits of a graph view? Aren't bi-directional links just simpler and thus more effective?
@ledaj@gisiger I have yet to use the graph in org-roam-ui for anything beyond entertainment and a general birds eye view of clusters of related things. I share because it might encourage someone to try emacs org-mode. I do think that it could be a fun and useful way for someone else to access my notes.
@nickanderson@ledaj@gisiger In my opinion, org-roam-ui is currently the only practical graph that has various filters. It allows you to visually see the structure and connections of your knowledge, understand the boundaries of your knowledge, and identify areas that require further exploration. Additionally, https://github.com/ikoamu/publish-org-roam-ui this project also enables you to view graphs online and even use it as a blog because it supports LaTeX preview. #emacs#orgmode
