Is anyone aware of game controllers with oversized or very large grips that might work for someone with arthritis?

installed Win11 on an old laptop and Rufus prompted me to autopatch the installer to remove the Microsoft account and TPM requirements when I wrote the ISO to USB. cool feature. made it a lot less annoying to set up.

@gsuberland would love a more detailed writeup on this, especially the part about "debloater tools". the family and i have to run win11 occasionally and it'd be nice to get rid of the cruft.

I wonder what the oldest is that still has some kind of community. I was watching a video about people playing dead games and it made me curious. Initially I thought maybe but I know there's some game on the that's still a thing but I can't remember it. Also maybe (not technically multiplayer) or (maybe doesn't have much of a community?).

Been staring at radios for a little bit now. Should probably play with the radios I already have, though. Been a hot minute since I've touched anything radio related. I think I enjoy theory more than communications, which is why was so nice for me. I am quite mic shy.

I get why companies want to buy pre-roll ads on podcasts that offer them occasionally, but why on earth would they buy them on shows where the first 90 seconds is ALWAYS ads and people instinctively press play, skip, skip, skip, and then listen? Do some people just sit through them or something? Weird.

hobbsc,
@hobbsc@social.sdf.org avatar

@JoeRess sometimes i sit through ads if my hands are full. maybe there are enough people doing the same to make it viable?

Today marks my 41th loop of screaming around the sun. Things are generally good considering all of the bad. I'm not much of a birthday celebration kinda guy but I did get myself a piece of cake last night, só that was nice. There's always a good excuse for cake.

Good , ! I'm gonna chug some and go to an open mat at a gym I've never been to before. Should be fun.

Visiting a site today and I overhear one of the guys say "some dude with a mohawk just rolled up on a dirt bike. I think we're about to get jumped."

Perception is everything, I guess. They didn't immediately think I was gonna stare at computers.

I know a lot of folks are still using and the like for their secure messaging. I haven't heard many people talk about Threema: https://threema.ch

I've been using it for a hot minute ever since the images bug and the response from Signal: https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android/issues/10247

I'm not a fan of Moxie or Signal's execs, either. That's mostly a personal thing. Just not folks I trust. It's hard to trust anyone in tech.

I don't have anything to do with . Just figured I'd pass the info along.

    symmetrizer, to modularsynth
    @symmetrizer@kolektiva.social avatar

    As a n00b I have to wonder why some, even DIY style, modules are so outrageously priced? Looking at some schematics I've concluded that some of these are pretty simple circuits consisting of relatively cheap components and PCBs are cheap nowadays so in some cases I really don't get it. A smallish module consisting of 2-3 PCBs, a couple of pots and thonkiconns, some opamps and one or two standard ICs + caps and resistors probably isn't worth a substantial fraction of one months rent. Maybe I'm missing something fundamental.

    hobbsc,
    @hobbsc@social.sdf.org avatar

    @symmetrizer some of it may be folks trying to squeak out a living with the equipment. Custom fabrication of the module cases may be a piece of the puzzle as well. Back when I messed about with synth stuff I usually just tried to make my own modules in order to save money. It was ugly but it mostly worked
