Anybody have recommendations for a decent computer (laptop or small form factor) that can withstand some abuse and a mildly hostile environment?

It should be able to run Linux and be fast enough to play YouTube videos at 480p without stuttering. Bonus if it'll run off of a 12vdc power supply and is easily repairable.

I need a new garage computer and I'm about to start scouring eBay.

Booked my work flights a couple weeks ago and had my seats selected. Go to check in for my flight and I don't have a seat selection. Managed to get decent seats for the trip out to work (naturally I had to pay extra for them) but I'll have to ride in the middle row for the whole five hour flight home. Real awesome for a tall dude in cattle class. I love air travel.

I need to figure out some way to control the media on my desktop when I'm across the room. Maybe with my phone? I know I can use for that but I also like to use (the gnome frontend for radio-browser.info) and sometimes YouTube but I don't use an account for that. Also the occasional streaming service like ESPN+ or fanatiz for soccer. Maybe I could rig up something with and do like a remote start feature for it.

I mean I could also pry my ass off the couch but .

It seems to me that the reselling craze that happened in the sneaker world appears to be happening in the gaming world, too. I wonder what other little hobbies/subcultures have this problem.

There is so much going on in and a ton of mechanics. It's got a d2 feel to it but I'm a little overwhelmed with the endless options. Heavy decision paralysis. I'll keep messing with it for a bit and see how things go.

@jake4480 I've been trying to do the story but all the side quests catch me. I also need to figure out the materials and crafting and etc.

I like it much better than 3. I was a d2 junkie (and to a lesser degree d1) and this one feels very close to that experience, just much much larger.

installed Win11 on an old laptop and Rufus prompted me to autopatch the installer to remove the Microsoft account and TPM requirements when I wrote the ISO to USB. cool feature. made it a lot less annoying to set up.

@gsuberland would love a more detailed writeup on this, especially the part about "debloater tools". the family and i have to run win11 occasionally and it'd be nice to get rid of the cruft.
