Obligate cyclist. One frame gave me over 100,000 km before theBB got too ovalized to hold cranks in line. I probably qualify as an expert, but not a mechanic.

I learned linux on the way to vector spaces, and now I can't grok why MS software is used anywhere.

It's probably not worth your time to engage with professionally trained hasbara spouters. It's not a personal failing that you're not yet as good at refuting professionally prepared bullshit as they are at emitting it; they've spent their entire lives at it.

Looks like doing one apt full-upgrade to one of my Ceres (unstable) machines safely "unclogged" the 200+ packages that had been held back for 2 months now with no apparent breakage anywhere else.

Guess it can be a useful trick (after analyzing carefully what in fact is being updated) despite my usual advice not to do it:

@Scienceisnotopinions My pet theory: they want to make it impossible for employees to sue employers for mandating dangerous workplaces.

Taking 2-3 days offline - starting from after this post. Two Aunties are in the hospital, Mom's suffering PTSD flashbacks, me trying to calm nerves in order to get through 2 work shifts - tomorrow & Thurs, meeting with Free Palestine outreach coordinator(today) & my speech in front of BC legislature on Saturday.

I'm doing self care & therapy, several times this week - in between the above duties.

Catch up, in in a few days✌️

A new study from Sweden 🇸🇪 suggests that mild COVID-19 can cause several years of "brain fog"

Nowadays, many people see COVID-19 more like a cold and not as something you need to worry about so much. But new research from Danderyd hospital that even mild infections, without any need to seek medical care, can cause long-term impairments in memory, attention and ability to learn new information.

    I suppose I am looking for a bit of validation here. I wear a mask to the grocery/pharmacy/etc. My father is very ill, my mother isn't so great, and I visit them often. I wear a mask so I don't catch COVID and spread it to them. I guess the reaction I get around here for wearing a mask is getting to me. I'm being called paranoid, ridiculous, etc. Not one person wears a mask here, from what I have seen.
    Remind me, please, that I'm NOT being ridiculous. I'm surrounded by those who say otherwise!

    http,
    @http@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

    @dancinyogi Your actions are neither paranoid or ridiculous. We may seem rare. I too am sometimes the only one shopping masked.

    I've not gotten any guff in public, but some people i thought erudite friends have said unkind words about my sanity and character for not joining the delusion that it's over and/or unimportant.

    They completely refuse to do the math or think on the ethics.

    Rhythm. 🎶 We've been talking about this off and on for a couple of days. I have it, Mark has it, his son does not. He says he tried everything to get his son to 'hear the beat", but he just cannot (imagine Richard Dreyfuss in 'Mr. Holland's Opus' by the way he describes it 🤣 ). I know people who are rhythmically challenged as well. Mark believes rhythm is either something you have or you don't, and it can't be taught. I guess I'm more of an optimist and believe it can be taught.

    Thoughts?

    http,
    @http@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

    @dancinyogi

    i say learnable.

    when twenty, it was suggested i had no rhythm. so i spent three months with a digital metronome ticking in my ear most every waking moment. something must have broken its way in, because i ended up playing music for (not much) money at one point in my life.

    as teaching methods go, it's probably crap. but at the time it fit my purpose and budget.

    Trump has taken his words up to the legal limit but has not crossed that line -yet. I think it's only a matter of time before he does. Eventually, a legal babysitter won't be around at 2 am, and a post will slip through. He may slip and say something in a rally. So, if he hasn't already crossed the line of saying/posting something that clearly violates the terms of his bond (in ANY case), he will. The law of averages almost guarantees it!

    But what will be done when he does? That's my question
