I've been seeing a lot of confusion and misinformation re: when the winter witch Mariah Carey will be fully defrosted. A lot of people seem to think it's November 1st or 2nd, directly after Halloween.

These people are mistaken.

Mariah Carey doesn't fully defrost and reach her maximum power until her resurrection is heralded by the appearance of Santa Claus on the final float of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, when he rides down the streets like Gabriel blowing the first trumpet.

  1. You need a client (program, app, or browser-based)
  2. Then you need a server (AKA instance) for an account (self-host or join a public one you trust)
  3. Then you can message individuals or join a chatroom (or whatever it's called on Matrix lol)

It's not happening to me, so I'm finding it hard to troubleshoot.

I like the option to place tags at the bottom of a toot, similar to how it has always been done on Tumblr. The body of toots are easier to read now.

@ludovica I hope it isn't here. Periodically I come across one here (usually on mastodon.social) but not in any significant numbers. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I've been seeing quite a few comments mentioning "reply guys" and 1) I wonder how much of the perception of getting reply guy responses is due to not showing you all or even most replies by other people (unless you click 'open original page'), and 2) I'd find it sad if normal people ended up feeling discouraged from replying because they don't want to appear annoying.

@thalassa Recently, I explained a screenshot that had been taken out of context to someone, only for them to tell me several other people already corrected them. I had no idea there were other conversations happening because from blorbo.social, I simply couldn't see them. But when I opened the toot from a different account, I saw 2-3 others saying the same thing I had. It's... unfortunate.

@AntimonySchnuck Thank you for sharing. I'm uncomfortable with the thought of a wannabe Republican Party politician having any position of authority or influence in fandom spaces. I'm glad this information was made more readily available.

I'm rolling my eyes at the Reddit OP saying, "It is important to remember that the Republican Party is huge". They are not American (according to a comment they made, they are British) and it shows.

Lately I've been reading a lot of and other cnovels (most of my bookbinding so far has been MDZS fanfic), and I'm a longtime sff fan. I also write fic, although I've been less active there lately.

So I had additional talk with my boss yesterday about my resignation. And oh boy, so many red flags, huh?

80% of this talk was him talking being poor and stuff and government making things hard for him which while partially true (I am also not a fan of our government and my father have very small company so I know problems associated with having business) it is still not my business and in my opinion is highly inappropriate to talk about it in this situation.

With the current situation, I think its a good time to mention that having your works on multiple places is always good. Ao3 was never setting out to be The Place to post all your works in the first place.

Hosting your fics on a site is easy! You don't even have to worry about CSS right away if you even want to work on that.

"How To Make Your Own Fanfiction Archive, In Just 10 Easy Steps" is a great and easy to follow post, give it a read, and make your site!
