Really enjoyed reading this article from Oishi and Westgate on “A Psychologically Rich Life”. As a potential third dimension next to Hedonic (Pleasure) and Eudaemonic (Meaning) Wellbeing, they posit the notion that Psychological Richness leads to Wisdom. It allows for a reframing of experiences that don't fit the happy/meaningful box, but do add to increased wisdom in life.

Why did it take so long for me to discover that read.amazon.com was a thing? This is great on Linux — allows me to easily read my Kindle books whilst working on my dissertation. Currently showing @thesiswhisperer “How to fix your academic writing trouble”. Not that I feel like I'm in trouble (yet!).

Dear all—thank you so much for your boosts and help with this post. I've currently gathered 42 responses, which has been a great start. If you are a teacher, then please consider helping me out by adding your opinions to my research project.

A few weeks ago, I put out a call on Mastodon to University faculty staff and students about “managing international students starting a new life abroad”.

The helpful responses led to a successful presentation for Year 13 students. As promised, I'm now publishing the results and dataset.

It's actually shown real staying power. The survey is now open indefinitely. I will update the project page periodically.

what apple could do to win back my support as a game developer has absolutely nothing to do with the strength of their GPUs and everything to do with notarization and deprecating shit i need as a developer like OpenGL for no reason

@eniko Unfortunately, this is very true. Their constant drive for “forward compatibility “ (not the right word but they keep removing features they no longer want to support). The porting kit in Sonoma is a nice gesture, but rebuilding developer trust will take a lot more than that. That being said, it is a shame, because their hardware (looking at the new M3) shows such promise. Here’s hoping Asahi becomes the long-term way forward if Apple stuffs things up again in the (near) future.

The daily Safari extension crash. @1password this isn't the most helpful error screen. IS the database corrupt? Will it be automatically cleaned up or rebuilt? Are there actions I can take? Check what, exactly, in my 1p browser settings?
