Most of you know @micheleclamp is a fabulous artist (I’m biased), but back in 2014 Michele asked me for an novel idea for a painting.

Because I’m a total fool, I said: “Why not paint a koala with a gun, I bet no one has ever done that!”

It’s since become a household meme for just how ridiculous all of my ideas are.

Fast forward to 2023, with zero “prompt engineering”, Michele just sent me this:

“Koala with a gun”

I simply just can’t even! Wow!

Splunk to be acquired by Cisco for $28 billion — pretty good exit for greping a few syslogs…

In other news, systemd is super excited.

@benfry awww! High praise from an old friend and colleague, bless you! I get to campus fairly frequently I’ll drop you a note, we’ve got a lot of mileage to cover, and many more miles to go! We can try out one of those new fancy Kendall Square joints that have sprung up since we last roamed those then barren lands together.!

This may be my most truly cursed ever for graphing performance?

This one has everything, a hand rolled artisanal , some feature extraction, and a spot of for fixing rounding errors, oh and of course, some red hot on action.

Enjoy! hehe. 😆

./src/iperf3 -c testhost -p 22222 -J | jq '.intervals[].sum.bits_per_second' | awk '{$1=sprintf("%2.2f",$1)}1' | gnuplot -p -e "set term dumb ; plot '< cat -' with lines"

Is it finally time to flip over to for the home lab, or continue to tough it out with trusty / on that’s worked for years?

I fear I’m probably going to end up swearing at a UI, and then find myself back in the terminal but with a new set of weird “pve” commands to configure stuff.

The HA and backup stuff really does look compelling though, and may even beat out my assorted artisanal and handcrafted snapshot.sh and rsync.sh scripts... 🤣
