Security researchers who attended the Black Hat and DEFCON security conferences in Las Vegas at the start of the month and stayed at the Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino should be aware that cases of Legionnaires' disease had been reported among hotel guests.

@campuscodi While we’re talking about be aware that water butts are a breeding ground in the summer. Never use a lawn sprinkler fed from a butt via a pump as the mist readily transports it into a readily inhaled form. Shading a butt reduces its temperature and makes the environment less conducive. Keep safe, y’all.

What desktop distribution do you use on a modern laptop?

My venerable laptop is 10 years old and it's battery isn't what it is so I've a new one on it's way.

Now I've used Ubuntu and Mint over the years for desktop use, alternating between the two.

As this one currently has Ubuntu on it I'll probably try the current Mint but what other distributions are people using for daily Desktop/Laptop use?

@peter I’ve always found Ubuntu does everything I need. I mostly use the Server version (on several old iMacs!) but Desktop works well.

Just found out a friend died last night.

Don't know how old he was but he was in his 70's I think. Known him for years

He wasn't unfit either, would see him walking to the shop's regularly & that's a 2-3 mile walk, multiple times a week.

Don't know the details yet other than they found him on the floor.

Sad thing is they've not been able to contact family yet, hence why I'm not naming him.

Doubt they'll see it here but last place to find this out is on social media

Been rewriting the code for a test card...

A good little sub-project as it's allowed me to notice I've totally fucked up basic arithmetic in the script parser 🤦‍♂️

e.g. for some reason

A + B - C - C != A + B - 2C

it's somehow doing (A + B) - (C - C)

So will look at that at a later time
