Great throw by Rutschman to nail J-Rod at second, but the runner would’ve been out anyway because of batter’s interference. Still, the throw was more impressive when the batter had to duck to keep from being drilled in the ear. @baseball

A fun (?) fact about the test.
When later researchers repeated the study, it was found that what mediated children's ability to wait was not "self-control" but rather their trust in the facilitator.
If they thought the facilitator was trustworthy, they waited. If not, they did not.

@_L1vY_ A lot of these studies that became staples of Psyc 101 class syllabi in the 1990s-2010s have elements of "but they later found out..." that never got corrected in the mass consciousness.

The famous Rosenhan experiment, for example, may have had major elements that were made up.

in 1992, musician Sinead O'Connor's career virtually ended when she publicly protested the Catholic Church's sexual abuse of children.

Aside from the fact that history quickly proved her right, I'm struck by how utterly dignified and restrained her protest was. She didn't trash the Sistine Chapel. She tore up a photograph of the Pope at the end of a televised set. That's it. It cost her her career.

Thank you for speaking truth to power, and may you finally rest in peace.

What a sad and dark day.

These beautiful souls are Hughes Van Ellis, 102, Lessie Benningfield Randle, 108, and Viola Fletcher, who just turned 109. They are the oldest living survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre. They have received $0 reparations.

They sued for justice. Sadly, Tulsa County District Judge Caroline Wall just granted the City of Tulsa’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning the case can’t be refiled.

What the fuck, Generation X?

We lived through our literal Boomer parents moving from "Henry Kissinger is a fascist war criminal" to "Ronald Reagan seems like such a nice man, I would have voted for him for a third term" and we rightly ridiculed them for it.

We were the native-born generation third wave feminists. It really fucking hurts that now "I just don't get these gender pronouns!" has to be our cultural Waterloo. It's fucking shameful.
